I'm amazed you all remember what your other halves say - I can never remember in the morning (hence DannyB's comment!). I'll try to write it down next time to amuse him.
It is a little unnerving though, when it's all dark and quiet and then suddenly your partner says something completely random in a loud, firm voice. Often hilarious but a bit strange too.
My friend used to sleeptalk and one night her boyfriend had to virtually hold her down to stop her leaving the flat, as she insisted that she had to go and 'let the elephants in'...that was a good one!

I came out one night at about 10 o'clock and started changing the plastic bag in the kitchen rubbish bin and apparently I was talking about what I was doing as I was doing it.

Just thought, I have done sleep talking. Used to, and possibly still do, the occaisional bit sleep walking. And apparently I can hold half decent conversations whilst in that state.
I know my mum found it a relief when I was a teenager as she reckoned it was the only time she could have a civil, polite conversation with me!

My wife once sat bolt upright in bed, and exclaimed -
"Oh my god, the laces!"
- "..mm..eh..wh..what?"
"The laces!"
- "...what laces?"
"The laces... On the bed!"
- "...you what?"
"Oh... shut up and get to sleep!"
- "... wh..?"
And in the morning she had no recollection or idea about what it was she was on about - and no, there are not, and never have been, any laces on our bed!

The other night my ewif suddenly pointed to the bed cover (nothing there!) and said "Can you clear all this stuff off the bed please?". I picked up this invisible 'stuff' and put it on the floor. The ewif said "thanks!".

fords does this on a regular basis. There's nothing like being woken up in the middle of the night by your other half demanding "Make it go faster!"

This could be symptomatic of another problem, of course.

I think J is talking to the dogs in his sleep sometimes. I also talk in my sleep.
Once I even remembered the dream I'd been having when I said those words. It was when I was around 11 and it was the first time I'd been told I talked in my sleep - I'd never shared a room before. Never been able to match a conversation with a dream since.

I was told by my parents that as a child I talked in my sleep, but I don't think I said anything amusing! I know that I laugh in my sleep, because sometimes I wake myself up. My fiancé giggles a lot in his sleep, it's usually just as he's getting to sleep and when I ask him what he's giggling at he can't tell me!

My son talks in his sleep sometimes and laughs quite a bit. Its rarely anything discernable though.

To be honest I think B and I are as bad as each other, we both talk and occasionally walk.
Two nights ago B was calling out map co-ordinates.
Over past few weeks I've had a chemistry lesson at 2:oo in the morning , and I'm fairly regularly shouted at and told to 'be quiet, sit down and pay attention...'
I've aslo been told to 'watch out - don't go near the lemon!'
Of course the worst incident was when I was kicked and woke up to find B violently attacking the wall behind the bed saying something about a raging fire coming through the wall - the wall was hot - and we needed to put the flames out.

If I ever start sleep walking I'll definitely be tying one foot to the bed with string. I have weird dreams and I'm worried that I'd try to act one out. I'd hate to be woken up trying to give the dog one.

Kat - From H2G2 Posted Oct 7, 2005
I've talked in my sleep for a number of years now.
First time I was told, I was about 11.
Mam woke me up by tickling my feet, didn't really wake me up because:
Mam: Kat where are the car keys, do you know?
Me: In the jam jar
Mam: What jam jar?
Me: The jam jar in the electric cupboard you idiot!
Since then I have managed to tell someone there's a goat in my tent (when it was really someone snoring), that the treacle pudding is escaping out the window, that 'Rachel' is dead and we have to collect mobile phones for her.
Recently I've developed the VERY embarrassing habit of er...there's no polite way to put this...humping the leg of whoever is in bed with me, and moaning etc. Luckily it's usually the girlfriend but it's been other people before and has been highly amusing/embarrassing depending on who it is.

I'm extremely aware of movement in my personal space, evern when in deep sleep. I have been known to swear (a good old fashioned f**k off) at people touching me. I found this out, my mum told me when she tried to tuck me in once when very drunk aged 19.

I have never been told that I sleep-talk, but I do talk in that time between sleep and awake during waking. It's quite hilarious really, one time my mom was waking me up and I asked her "can I have my hands and nails please?". And I was completely aware of what I said when I said it. What I say usually has something to do with the insane dreams I might have had prior to saying it. Another time my mom woke me up, I asked her "How much control do you have over your kitchen appliances?".

I don't talk in my sleep I SCREAM in my sleep. I don't know of anything particularily amusing that I've said. (I'm sure my brother in the room beside me could tell you.)
I'm a violent sleeper. When I was younger I was sleeping in a bed with my mom and I actually managed to bruise her. It was also a problem when I was younger and had sleep overs with friends, I would end up hitting them. I have scared people with my screaming and yelling
I have an amusing story about my little brother though...
We were watching television and he fell asleep on the couch. All of a sudden I hear from him, "We can just walk out of here!"
I say, "What?"
"We can just leave!!!"(very dramatically)
"Pardon?"
"Do you live close to here?"
To which I responded, "Jordy, I live here..."
He sat up straight and turned to me and said "Oh... sorry." And went back to sleep.
It was very funny!

That made me laugh hysterically, Nunarssuaq, because it comes so close to making sense...
