In Ireland we tend to take it all a LITTLE too seriously. I think the country went into mourning when it was clear that we were ... well, useless!! Relegated now!! Thank God! Our song was horrible anyway.

Yes, the concept of relegation FROM the song contest! Now there's a picture to conjour with. How do you win promotion(?) to it. Would you try very hard?

I saw the very start on (australian) SBS tv, and for some reason Effie was hosting it, and that was ALL I needed to see.

Here in Denmark people usually don´t watch it either. But the one yesterday actually broke the records for ratings. Probably because they wanted to see how Denmark did after we simply rocked last year.
But it was embarassing we had to use Aqua again, but there´s just no other Danish band that´s made it big. Danish music sucks.
It was so great to see Ireland get kicked out

Hey, Ireland aren't that bad - we usually win the thing!! In fact I think we hold the record for most wins and most consecutive wins! Now isn't that somethinng to be proud of

That is why I was happy to see you get so few points, because you usually always win the thing.

I think we (Estonia) are going to win the thing quite often. We like to win it as it seems. And we have a great singing tradition - remember, we actually sang ourselfes out of the USSR.

It _is_ culture...
In Sweden, everyone watches, but would never admit to it. I think it's hilarious, just the outfits are usually enough entertainment for one night
I'm quite happy for Estonia, I though it was as good a song as any of the others (which isn't really saying much, I know) plus it's one af the few I can actually remember - usually I don't even recognize the Swedish song the next day.

*peering down into a petri-dish full of mould and fungus*
In a way, I suppose Eurovision IS a culture of sorts.

I think Estonian song was as bad as the others. The good thing was that it wasn't about love or broken heart or something like this. Party-time, everybody likes it. Who likes a broken heart or somebody elses true love (if it was mine...)?

Does anyone remember the German (I think) entry of a few years ago about a telephone? I remember being at a Eurovision party (any excuse to go drinking!) and finding the translation hilarious. I think that's why I enjoy it so much - a chance to laugh at people making complete fools of them selves and taking it all so very seriously

I think I managed the ideal way of watching the Eurovision song contest the other day, I managed to only catch the voting, which turned out to be quite amusing.
Did anyone else notice that every country had some sexy female giving their results out whereas the UK had some stuffy old bloke - intriguing.
The only song I heard was the winning one and if that won it then I shudder to think about the quality of the rest of the songs.
(Noone is *ever* going to make a worse one than The Brotherhood of man song mind...)

Oh forgot about him then.
I must say I was shocked when I think it was Greece actually gave Turkey some points!
The other thing I've read (on Ceefax admittedly) is that Ireland are *furious* that they have been relegated . Last I heard they were getting annoyed ay having to host it so often, make up your minds guys...

its what happens when you hold a karioke night to select your entery (which from the performance is what I assumed they did)

Well, my Irish housemate last year told me they were deliberately trying to make their songs crap as continually hosting the show was sending their ecenonmy into a nosedive. I guess they went to far...
BTW, did the UK get relegated? I don't remember us doing too well.
