I think that meeting German people and sharing authentic conversations with the is really beneficial for a German language student.

I threatened to approach the department. I'd like to dip my toe in the water, but please don't expect major fluency. I learned the language aeons ago, and it looks as if it'll run away if I don't do something about it!

I am justquietman, 14276711. I would consider myself a Learning Researcher. I find it difficult to initiate a German conversation (mostly because of limited vocabulary, and never remembering gender). I haven't studied German since high school.

I now work in the US office of a German firm. I am hoping that, by lurking and occasionaly responding to this thread, I can see examples and get practice in correct grammar and coherent sentences. I can ask for a beer and say hello and goodbye, but need more business-oriented language examples. My pronunciation is OK.
I saw a link to http://www.d-seite.de/index.html, and will try that as well, but that's a bit more immersion in German-only lessons than I can handle.
