How do we know? We don't fully understand it, right? They could just talk rubbish. And of course we can't talk it because of physical problems.

I still don't think you can really compare that, but I don't think you can really give languages any levels anyhow.

English is hard enough.

French is a dang annoyance.

English is easy compared to French. I learned it at school for 4 years and now hardly remember anything.

French in a lot of ways is slightly more logical though well from what I learned at school, which isn't much I tend to remember the words I actually used in France though

I went there before I knew I was doing French I was supposed to be learning German but I didn't really learn any of that till my 3rd year and then it was only a terms worth

Anyways people in England can't understand my accent nevermind trying to speak another language by other locals around here I keep getting accused of being Irish after I repeat what I said 4 or 5 times... strange thing is I lived round here more or less all my life and have never been to Ireland and have only seen it on the Telly

How long will you keep us in suspense? smiley - smiley

Whatever language you learn to speak as a child will not seem difficult. Any other languages will seem easy or hard based on how similar it is to your first language.

Japanese will not find written Chinese very hard because they already are using some of the same characters.

For a British person, Hungarian will seem hard because it has 35 cases. Athabascan (a Native American language) will seem daunting because it has a fourth person. Polish has numerous grammar and pronunciation problems. And Spanish has some daunting grammar problems smiley - yikes.

smiley - smiley yes, I already have holidays. We get 3 weeks at uni instead of 2 like at school.

Oh yes, Hungarian must be really hard.
I only know that I can understand a few bits of Spanish and Italian, but I can't talk at all.
No idea about Polish.

I'm not really that great at languages anyhow. Grammar is for me a thing of intuition and orthography... well, let's say there are definitely things I can do better. But that depends very much on my general condition. And it got better already.

Written Chinese must be very difficult, too. I couldn't remember all the different characters.
