Goodbye my friend
frenchbean Started conversation Jan 10, 2009
Earlier this weekend, my old friend G - for whom many of you provided post-operative jokes 18 months ago - has died.
At last his struggle is over and it seems to have been a good death given the circumstances. But no matter how glad I am that he has found a way to end his living hell, I am heartbroken that he is dead.
My fine, laughter-filled, gentle friend is irrevocably gone. There is a time for everything and it was his time to die. For those of us who continue to live without his company, the sunshine just got a little less bright.
Goodbye my friend

Sorry about your loss, FB. I know what it's like. It can take years to recover from the loss of a friend. We never forget them, nor should we.

Yes, well said G - and thank you. I know you've been through similar situations. Indeed, many of my hootoo friends seem to have witnessed some very tough times over the last year or so

Dearest fb.
so sad about the loss of your dear friend, and the memories that it brought to the surface. You have happy times to remember with him and your dear . I find it helps to concentrate on them.

Frenchbean,
I am so sorry, but I can only think that at last, he has the peace which should have been his much sooner.
Big Try and think about the good times and not the sad end.

Times like this are bittesweet. The end of suffering and dependency is a blessing, but it also ends so much more that we can never replace. I know how hard this is for you. Compounded grief seems to be the lot of us all, eventually. Please be kind to yourself the next few days.
Goodbye my friend

My condolences, FB, to you and G's family and friends.
We all lose friends and loved ones. None of them can truly be replaced.
The only real consolation is that we can always add friends to our list, even if every one of them becomes a similar risk of sadness down the line.
If it will help, you can feel free to borrow my towel at any time. It's well used, but available.
Goodbye my friend

Thank you all. I am taking advantage of all the offers of s, s and other support.
As several of you have said, it is with sorrowful relief that I mourn G's death. It has brought up too many unhappy memories just at the moment. Thankfully I'm back at work today and hopefully getting on with stuff will help me get back to feeling 'normal' again (whatever that is).

Your friend would not want you to be sad Frenchbean. How about planting something nice to remind you of him. I know you are not a permanent resident yet, but you could still enjoy something for as long as you are there.
I was doing my Christmas Card book the other day, and it was very sad to see how many of my friends have 'departed' over the past couple of years. My address book doesn't shrink though, as I seem to acquire new friends quite often, which is a joy.
Take care,
Websailor
