hi B'Elana,
i am also looking at 'chrome', very sparse, and i don't really think i'll bother with it much.
i would agree with the 'opera' fraternity, clean, easy to use, as long as you don't use the 'ask' option when searching.
ie does what it says on the tin, my reservations would be to delete all cookies, history, etc, all the options under 'tools/internet options', for example, why keep browsing history for 20 days or more? your computer is just full of unneccessary c*ap, and use a virus engine like avg which catches adware/spyware and use it frequently.
lots of users like 'firefox' because you can add so many things to it to suit the way you want it to work.
i like/love 'safari', and yes you can use it on windows, it's not just for rich apple owners. it's clean and fast, it's not as secure, so i wouldn't use it for any banking online type of activities.
everything is free, so try out until you find the one that suits you.
i do use inertnet explorer for most of my browsing, i detest being bombarded with so much malware, which comes along with it.
i have a d*ll laptop less than a year old, so nearly everything runs ok, the os is vista, it won't let anything run until you click 'yes', i think i'd rather have the protection than go back to xp with all it's flaws, but that's just my personal opinion, all you xp users are going to have to upgrade when xp ends anyway, or switch to linux...
....oh yes, or get a mac....
saw your thread and thought i'd just jump in with both feet, early apologies for offending anybody and everybody else who may be offended, your computer is your personal contact with this massive internet experience, the more you use it, the more you get out of it, you should be safe and happy on it.
dave.

Hi and welcome, Dave.
I am using Chrome, and I have got used to it already.
I think if my IE had worked properly, I wouldn't have bothered with trying to find out about Chrome, but as it is, I prefer it to Firefox.
It has a few weak points, but as long as it works properly, I can live with them.
Interesting what you say about browsers and online banking.
I never knew there was a difference in safety depending on which browser you use.
I'll have to remember that next time I do online banking or shop online (neither of which I do often).

Didn't anybody hear Vista is already being replaced by explorer 7 or windows 7, xp has got a new lease of life since notebook manufacturers prefer it for its simplicity.
If you get vista you have to have 3GB of RAM memory, or it just aint worth the hassle.

For those who don't believe in malicious software this is in stats for my sites. As you can see some strange activity going on and #19 censored may I add is particularly nasty. It attempts to use sites with a large bandwith to launch denial of service attacks.
