I plan to publish a -get well poem' for lil in the next <./>ThePost</.> and I think it would be nice if you could add a verse.

I'll start it off:


My dear friend lil is very ill

With acute appendicitis -

That's much worse than lilitis.

So I fret and I worry

And I'm ever so

That there's nothing that I can do

But writing these lines to you.


Please, feel free to add something, it would be great.

Poor Vicky Virago
There's nothing that shocked her
Much more than when Mum said
She's under the doctor

We miss our lil
Oh yes we do
We miss her so much
We're all very blue

Hootoo is not the same
We think you'll all agree
Sending happy thoughts and get well messages
Until the 'ospital sets her free

We'll keep the matt warm
And safe from harm
And promise to hide
That radio alarm

So our lil can enjoy a lie-in
With a nice cup of tea
And a big slice of cake

Less of the "snip snip" please... brings back bad memories...

This may not be quite what you had in mind, and I couldn't get my thoughts to metre, but this is my attempt. Use or trash as you see fit!

'Buttons, Buttons everywhere, and not one Lil can push!'

Those s and s
Must be issuing curses,
Big buttons close by,
Must really terrify.

But Lil must get well,
Come Heaven and Hell .
Buttons must wait
To get her first rate.

VV and Pete
Are being so sweet,
Keeping us up-to-date
A job that's first rate.

All of HooToo
Are thinking of you,
So get on those feet,
Because your attendance is desperately needed at the Hull Meet!!!

*OK the last line doesn't quite work, but I couldn't quite squeeze the sentiment into five syllables... Call it poetic license!!!*

Oh well. Ignore my attempt and , as I am off out now, so probably won't be able to add anything when I get back, as the Poem will be longer than the Ancient Mariner!!!

It's a great attempt, MMF, and if that's OK with you, I'll just pick one verse for the collaborative poem, and the whole poem will be here for lil to read once she's back anyway.

Shame, cos that made me laugh. Is there any way you can put a page together with a collective one, plus any other longer ones?

Bel I think you may have to rename this concept 'an anthology for Lil'. It is perhaps appropriate that you've asked people to contribute for Lil and the one thing you can't get them to do is shut up.

I can't think of a verse right now (I'm doing work at the same time) but I will try!

Sorry, I nearly sprayed the computer with coffee when I read that!

Moonhogg, I'm not too sure. I think I could add GB's and MMF's poems as 'stand-alones', but we can't have too many of those, and I'd really love to have a collaborative poem. As GB has given her OK, I'll see which verse will be best to take, same with MMF's.

The day when lil went under the knife,
It very nearly changed my life,
Her editing – so gently done,
Now’s undertaken by a Hun!!
