A Conversation for Air Guitar

egad! possibly the most bizzare forum on the entire site! most extraordinary. heavy metal "true music"? what? with the possible exception of the mighty sabbath (sepultura and metallica weren't bad either) it is possibly the most cliched form of music on the planet. grunge, now that's different. cock rock's pretty sound too. and a nice bit of rap-metal (the incredibly ace RAGE). and some of the more "obscure" stuff like dick dale and booker t & the m.g.s. some classics like pink floyd and mr clapton (oh, and dire straits too). now what was i talking about again? ah yes, that seems to have cleared that up nicely. now then, now then. to business. this forum is apparently about a) blue fishies (i WANT one! please?...) b) people called Kat (i know a Cat, for what it's worth), and c) air guitar/air tuba/air sax/and even air flute and air kazoo. apparently big eric used to play air guitar when he was younger. if he was half as good then as he is now, i guess that would make him the undisputed king of the air six-stringer. and as for the debate on the best air guitar song, i would like to point out the merits of "layla" by the aforementioned big eric. there. can i have a blue fishie now? i'll be careful with it, i promise....

Jumping in is what h2g2 is all about!
The scariest thing about all of this is the fact that people are beginning to take rock music seriously.......thus missing the whole point of the genre.
IT IS MEANT TO BE FUN!!!!!!!!!! It was never meant to be an "art form". Gezzzz...cumon' people! Mozart it ain't, and never was meant to be!

Mozart used to air-conduct air-symphony-orchestras, apparently.
Can I also just say; Blue Fish. Words can paint a thousand pictures, you know. It's really much easier. Blue fish blue fish blue fish blue fish blue fish blue fish blue fish..... [smiling face]

Air Mozart Blue Kat-Fish DRUMS!

Very interesting reading. Just popped over from the procrastination forum. Has nobody ever seen air drumming on the Freeway? If it wasn't for the air drums in my car, I'd never get through traffic.

I'm going to look at the procrastination forum tomorrow. You can also play air head, as Wayne and Garth did so memorably to Bohemian Rhapsody.

AIr drumming is probably the most fruitful air instrument. With the combination of knees, sternum, skull, thighs, additional mouth noises and any interesting-sounding surfaces nearby the range of noises that can be produced is probably the most varied of all the most popular non-instruments. Air guitarists are limited to going "weooww weoowwee daghhhhh ddagh da deeooggghhwwwowww" out of the corners of their mouths.

Not if you're playing power-chords. Then you can go 'krrrnch krrrnch' kind of thing. Of course, if its a happy piece, you can go baw baw to the notes.
Air drums are indeed rather cool though. But you can't jump aroudn and play the things in odd positons like you can with an air guitar.

Oh, I don't know now......air drums are played in automobiles, normally.....as a driver of a rather large truck, I must say I've seen folks in some rather odd positions while they were driving. I could only assume it was in an effort to play "air drums".

It must be you as most people reach the Heavy Metal stage of life and decide that they have reached the pinnacle of their existance

FairlyStrange Posted Dec 9, 1999
Nahhh.....I passed my Heavy Metal stage years ago! Though I must admit, I hated to see the form fall into disfavor.
As far as my "pinnacle", I reached and passed it years ago......it's all downhill from here!

Not least because all the goddang spaces have disappeared, and hence looks like some kind of futuristic weapon.

Metallica must have thought it was such a good idea, that they've gone and done it themselves!
Check out their S&M album - What do you think

Never mind Air Guitar - There's a book about called Flesh Guitar, read it a couple of years ago, but I can't remember the author.
Anyway this story's about a gorgeous female guitar player with this unbelievable flesh guitar, that really bleeds on those bleeding heart solos. It's a completely surreal story, and well worth a read.
I'll try to get back with the authors name
