While you're bating your breath, I think I'll relate today's amusing incident, then.

I've just been flicking through the BBC football pages prior to writing the Marc-Vivien Foe memorial entry, and I was somewhat taken aback by the link 'Sheringham poised for Pompey'.

I had to read it three times before I convinced myself that is didn't read 'Sheringham posed for Playboy'.smiley - biggrin

I think I need some new glasses. smiley - erm

Howdy all well i've made it back from my holiday. and looking at the results table, i think i should leave all my chances to the pools panel smiley - smiley

Yes, you have set a dangerous precedent by having a Pools Panel pick Weekly Winner, GD, you know that?

Yes that was a bit unfortunate wasn't it smiley - erm

It doesn't matter though, as the rules state that you can't have multiple pools panel picks just because you are too bone idle to do it yourself. Or because you're absolutely crap at the game.

Anyway, I got bored of waiting for the European football governing body to get round to updating their own website, with the details of games being played in less than 4 days time. So I found another source...

Here we go:

Sloboda Tuzla v Lierse SK
Dacia Chisinau v Partizani Tirana
Slovan Liberec v Shamrock Rovers
Orgryte IS Goteborg v Nice
Marek Dupnitsa v VfL Wolfsberg

The UEFA link above does work pretty well for the details of who is in the teams, and the scorers for earlier rounds smiley - ok

I'm going to miss this week and next (off on holiday). I'm not going to be cheeky and ask for two weeks pools panels -perhaps I should retire from this season...

Sorry smiley - sadface

Pools Panel Picks time again....

Slovan Liberec 3-0 Shamrock Rovers
Orgryte IS Goteborg 1-2 Nice
Marek Dupnitsa 2-1 VfL Wolfsberg

WEEK EIGHT

Post 17

I notice that I forgot to specify a closing date and time for this round, though if one looks at the fixtures the word 'Saturday' would spring irresistably to mind. Also tradition seems to indicate that the time for a thread to close is 12 noon, apart of course from the times when it isn't.

Anyway, being a generous sort I thought I would go and give our two absentees this week a set of Pools Panel picks, so here we go... smiley - ok

Egon:
Sloboda Tuzla 2-2 Lierse SK
Dacia Chisinau 1-0 Partizani Tirana
Slovan Liberec 0-1 Shamrock Rovers
Orgryte IS Goteborg 2-1 Nice
Marek Dupnitsa 0-0 VfL Wolfsberg
... and no scorer points.

Kiltedjedi:
Sloboda Tuzla 1-0 Lierse SK
Dacia Chisinau 1-3 Partizani Tirana
Slovan Liberec 1-3 Shamrock Rovers
Orgryte IS Goteborg 4-0 Nice
Marek Dupnitsa 1-0 VfL Wolfsberg
... and 1 scorer point.

Of course if either of them show up before any of the games have kicked off, then they are quite welcome to substitute these Pools Panel picks with a selection of their own choosing smiley - smiley

Thanks for that GD

I am going to be away for much of the next week as well so I will ask early for a pools panel pick

No problem smiley - ok

WEEK EIGHT

Post 20

GreyDesk

I've not done the stats in detail yet, but I think we may well have another Pools Panel winner this week smiley - erm

You see the Pools Panel favours home wins -- quite understandable really. Now those who selected for real were working on the assumption that the 'stronger' teams who were coming at this round -- all the away teams -- would be more likely to win. Therefore they picked away wins.

What's happened so far? Three home wins for the lesser teams and one score draw smiley - cross
