WEEK TWELVE - The Final Week
GreyDesk Started conversation Jul 26, 2003
And so to the final week of this summer's competition.
As a bit of a celebration for what has been rather a long hard slog, I thought I'd give you double rations this week.
10 games, 9 Premiership teams and every single one of the 20 teams plays somewhere in the UK. So there are no excuses for just guessing this week
Crystal Palace v Chel$ki
Sheffield United v Middlesborough
Celtic v Arsenal
Walsall v Aston Villa
Plymouth Argyle v West Bromwich Albion
Motherwell v Fulham
Bournemouth v Leicester City
Wigan Athletic v Blackburn Rovers
Burnley v Birmingham City
Dunfirmline v Portsmouth
Closing date 12noon Saturday, 2nd August
Off you go then

Two predictions for Argyle 0 West Brom 0... is it just coincidence, or are you both aware of Argyle's longstanding strikers-scoring-goals problem???

SomeMuppet Posted Jul 26, 2003
that and WBA have always been famous for banging the goals in recently (was going to go for a 1-0 to the baggies but I couldn't think of a player likely to score)

Will people need to put the Plymouth players names down if they are just going to type Plymouth Argyle 0 (Unless they are going for an OG)

Hey we got new player Welcome aboard there creachy. I'll add you into the table.
Just for information folks, the SheffU game is a testamonial match for Simon Tracey. So it is probably going to be a bit of a kick about rather than a serious match.

It was based on something I originally sent upstairs to Match of the Day a couple of years ago when we played Whitby in the Cup - Tony Gubba used a lot of it in his opening 30 seconds, so it can't be all bad...

Interestingly, or more 'interesting-lite' perhaps, Dunfermline are nicknamed 'The Pars'. This stands for 'Plymouth Argyle Rosyth Supporters' - yet no-one knows why this came about...

I wonder whether the fact that the Nationwide League sides are one week further into their pre-season (i.e. one week fitter) than the Premiershi* mob will equalise the skill gap? We shall see...
