Sorry, I dodn't have time to read the whole entry, I just scanned it for style. I think this is a great idea for a series of entries and this seems pretty informative.

The only thing I will say is I think you've used too much bold text. I think the general h2g2 rule is only to use it if you need another division when the text has already been divided using a normal header/subheader style. When you use it for quotes, I'd suggest using italics instead.

Just a minor poit, I'm sure this'll get in soon. smiley - smiley

This is a presentation of the Five Pillars as seen by Sunni Muslims. Although the Sunni sect is the largest, Shi'a Islam is not insignificant. Trying to cover the different views of Shi'ites would probably add too much complexity, but you would do the reader a service if you simply mentioned that there is a difference.

Actaully the five pillars are the five pillars, and as such all muslim sects believe in the five pillars. The difference between Shia and sunni came down to an area of law. This being who should be the leader of the Islamic people. Sunnis believe that this should go to the most knowledgable and most able to lead Muslim while the group that became the shia disagreed with this and thought that the leader should only come from the Prophets blood line, in this case it was Ali his cousen.

It was agreed upon to have a vote and Ali lost the vote, the Shia split away from the Muslims then and formed in to Shia while the other group called them selfs Sunni.

Over the years more differences have branched out but this is from different schools of thought on laws etc.

Both groups still follow the five pillars. While the Shia do not follow the hadith recorded in the Sunni collection the Shia actaully have their own hadith collection and follow that though most of it is the same as the Sunni collection it is felt by shia's that Sunni Muslims would have changed the wording to support their views and vice versa.

If any group actually comes along and calls them selfs Muslim and do not acknowledge and follow the five pillars then they are not Muslim, and that is excepted by Sunni, Shia and Sufi.

The principles of the five pillars are the same it is only the laws derived from these pillars that are diffferent.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

I see a typo, SchrEck Inc.

"they are referring to the same deity as the Christians and Jew." under the "Allah" section, is missing an "s" from "Jews".
