Still, it looks like I've done quite nicely out of that one. Two firsts, a second and a third. Quite a nice goody-bag, that.

Blimey I won stuff!
If I have any kind of a choice over runner up prizes, could I have a musemat rather than a mug?

Don't ask me! I am still sulking that the GreyDesk resigned from the ACEs in a fit of pique, but is clearly happy to remain a guru!

There is actually a good reason behind my decision.
As an ACE I feel the role is more to guide the community, therefore reporting on conversations around the current situation feels to me like taking part in censorship. Now with a Guru hat on, I feel competely within my rights to totally ignore Natalie's message as Guruing is about answering people's questions. To that end I have posted to the Guru forum asking what we do if researchers complain about the awkwardness of the Message Boards.
I also accept that my decision may have looked a little hasty. But on reflection through today, I believe that it is the right one. I don't want to be an ACE whilst these rules around Iraq are in place. Once they are gone, I may well revolunteer.

I like the sound of a musemat - somewhere to wrestle with the crucial fifth line for the every post a limerick thread.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
