A Conversation for Underguide Scheme, Plan D
The State of AWW

I've just been having a look at <./>RF5</.>, which looks like it'll be our new home, in a while.
Name
I'm still strongly in favour of renaming it APR, to place in on a tier with PR, and above WW. I don't think anybody has said this is *not* possible, so I'm going to go with it for now
Page
We'll also want the page rewritten to reflect its new purpose and processes. Modelling it on the current PR page might not be a bad idea. We'll want people to go there like people go to PR now - browse through, find interesting entries, read them, comment in the threads, and focus their comments on why or why not this entry should be selected for the UG, or how it could be improved to make it more suitable. PR is very goal-oriented, and that's a good thing, IMO. A business-like tone makes people feel their entries are being taken seriously.
One of our next tasks will be to put an entry together with our suggested new text for the new APR new page.
Contents
AWW currently contains 231 threads, 30 of which haven't received comments in over a year.
We'll want to clean it up, I reckon. Anna has intimated that she'll be able to help with that. I imagine we'll want to get to know the GR Manoeuvre.
The GR Manoeuvre (U198667) is an open account set up for the purpose of flagging entries to be moved from PR. The way it works is, if an entry needs to be out of PR, whoever notices it can log in as U198667 and post to the PR thread, indicating the entry's suggested fate. The GR Manoeuvre is supposed to suggest one of the following for entries in PR: A) Move to FM, B) Move to WW, C) Remove from the RFs entirely, or D) Someone scout this thing, already!
Anyway, when an Italic, with the power to move threads, comes along, they can just pop over to the GR Manoeuvre page, see which threads are on the subsciption list, and have an easy time knowing which ones to move and where. Very nice.
I don't know whether it would be convenient for us to use the GR Manoeuvre itself, or to set up another, similar persona. Of the various fates for entries leaving PR, A, B and C will certainly be options for entries leaving APR. D might work differently, depending on how UG Scouting ends up working.
For Now
Perhaps the best thing we can do with AWW now would be to start posting to the threads there, commenting on the UG-suitability of the entries we see. We could just post as ourselves for now, and drop links to this page, of the latest UG proposal. We can also flag threads, a la GR Manoeuvre, as to what their fates might should be, whether FM, WW, out of the RFs or to remain in AWW while we get our UG-act together.
Comments, suggestions, reflections, translations, dedications, superstitions, amphibians?

Sorry, it's 4 in the morning here. I meant that we could post in AWW threads now, dropping links to A943670, as a way of advertising the UG Proposal. It would also serve the purpose of waking up old AWW threads, and flagging them as to whatever suggested fate seems right.
I'll stop now, before again up does my syntax get tangled.
Oh s**t.

GTB,
My real concern is whether the Italics would object to these changes to the system. Sounds okay if they'll agree to the changes, but if UG can only be accepted by starting in a totally unofficial way, without any changes to the review fora, then I think we could still accomplish some good things with a lot of workarounds.
I suggest we use your suggestions for AWW as our default plan, and we can have a contingency plan for how we could operate if the Italics won't approve changes to AWW.
Otherwise, I agree that Alternate Peer Review sounds like a better title for our purposes, and that it would be a good idea to write something for that page to explain the new function of APR.
The GR Manoeuvre appears to cover all review fora, so I imagine they'd let us use it for moving things out of APR. Keep in mind that we might also suggest entries submitted to APR could be better suited in regular PR. Probably won't happen often, but it might.

GTB,
"One of our next tasks will be to put an entry together with our suggested new text for the new APR new page."
Are you just scouting this idea, or are you willing to sub it? Just kidding. I was looking over the text of the Peer Review page and the AWW to think about how we might explain things for Alt-Peer Review. At the bottom of the AWW page, it talks about AGG/GAG, Fiction Central and So Long And Thanks For Laughing. Although we'll be renaming it and steering the purpose of APR towards the Underguide, could we still mention those hubs? Should we?
Otherwise, the text of the Peer Review page looks like a good model for what we'll need to explain.

Well jested, Subcom.
I'll have a crack at it, why not? Let me do a copy/paste and some edits, and then I'll toss an A# on this thread.

Work in progress. Feel free to edit what's left while I'm sleeping and leave a finished version in a thread below it. G'night...

Are we now sifting through AWW pieces?
Do we justgo in threads and say Hi, blah de blah de blah...
Does that mean that we should now create the Volunteers Identity, and the UG Archive?

I think we are sifting through the AWW pieces, pointing them at Subcom's plan D, inviting them to join in the discussions, and pointing the good entries in the direction of the Post for now.
I assume.
I dunno.

Good idea; the Fortyniners are going to need a U-ID soon anyway.
One thing which starting on the pages about the Volunteer Scheme has shown me is that there are still A LOT of grey areas. I think I will copy Deidzoeb and highlight the bits in the entry which are still up for debate, and list them.
We don't even know what the Fortyniners will do in their own names, and what they will do in the official Underguide ID. For example, if you are subbing a UG entry, do you sub it in your own ID or in the UG ID?
The best way of highlighting these questions is to go ahead and write the pages, create the ID, amble into AWW, and generally start walking the walk. That way we find out where we need further dicussion.
So good move that entity!

Indeedee... lets walk the walk!
Oh and by the way: what I've meant to say each post before but forgot everytime is that I 'think' [though only occasionally] that to see the guide ml of a page you type test and then the no. of the page you want but no letter eg. <./>test746624 </.> should give you the gml of my ps...I did say should though!
Note: not my user number but the a number of my ps...

You can also do it with the user number, but like this:
