This isn't a favourite quote, it's just an observation that it's a shame that a brilliant actor like Richard Harris is recognised by such trivial work as Gladiator and Harry Potter

Still Incognitas, Still Chairthingy, Still lurking, Still invisible, unnoticeable, missable, unseen, just haunting h2g2

My favourite is from a Terry Prachet book the title of which escapes me for a moment.

'when the four small and nasty Horsemen of Panic ride out there is a good job done by Misinformation,Rumour and Gossip, but they are as nothing compared to the fourth horseman known as Denial'

Brilliant!!

Incog.

That was in 'Interesting Times'. My first Pratchett book, and still probably my favourite.

I liked Harris in 'The Wild Geese' as well. Haven't seen the Potter film. My favourite quote at the moment has to be:

"How very amusing! Actually attacking our camp! Most amusing."
Attributed to Lt-Col. Crealing at Isandhlwana, 1879, minutes before the Zulus overran the camp and killed all but a handful of the British soldiers.

a girl called Ben

Well, military quotes are a rich source.

I still love the exchange which I think was between General Hill and the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo:

'My gad, I've lost my leg, sir!'
'My gad, so you have, sir!'

"Some people have a way with the English language. And other people not have way."

Apologies if that's already been quoted, and I think it's attributed to our friend Mr Fridge Magnet again.

Dark Side of the Goon

Just a quick riff through my favourite wrestling promo ever:

"Rock: The Rock says 'Whatcha gonna do when the 24..' no wait, that's not it. That's not it. Hold on...oh, this is it. 'To BE the man..WOOOOO!..ya gotta beat..' no, that's not it. That's not it. Oh. This is it: 'Ooooo YEAH dig..' no, dammit, that's not it either!

Triple H: Don't worry...yours is no better!

Rock: Oh wait, this is it: 'I am the best there is, the best there was..' no, that's not it...that damn sure ain't it...oh, this is it...The Most Electrifying Line in Sports Entertainment...If Ya Smell What The Rock is Cooking!"

And also:

Lethbridge Stewart: Women. Not really my thing.

The Doctor: Don't worry Brigadier. People will be shooting at you soon.

S t r e t c h i n g the military theme, I'm reminded of the story about when David Niven and Errol Flynn were filming the Charge of the Light Brigade and the director (whose mother tongue was *not* English) called 'Bring on the empty horses' followed by much smiley - laugh on the part of Niven and Flynn and some smiley - steam from the director, and the wonderful line
*You think I know f**k nothing!!
Well you're wrong, I know f**k all!*

Trawling through some of the backlog there, I saw some Lord of the Rings quotes. The favourite game in my house at the minute is in the Council of Elrond scene. Gimli brings his axe crashing down onto The Ring, with the result that the weapon shatters, leaving The Ring unharmed.

Later that same scene, Aragorn pledges to Frodo that he can count on his sword
"and my bow" adds Legolas
"and my axe" shouts Gimli

"which is broken!" yells my daughter.

They seemed to miss the one which was most obvious to me. When they are on the mountain, and Frodo falls over, the snow in the path of his falling is churned up. It is obvious that this is not the first take of this scene.

I hate that about those "deserted" islands in films. YOU CAN SEE ALL THE FOOT PRINTS!!!!!!!!
