Hello there... wonderfully humorous piece love the ending.
How about a link to the previous episodes too? And maybe turning it into GuideML would be good too. I found this piece from CAC and liked it really. So better navigation would be appreciated. :D
Great job

THANK YOU!!!!!!!
It's about time I got a complement!
You can access the parts from my username though!
And I needed a comlement to know if was continuing it!
Thank you!
I'll see what I can do about Guide ML but my box only lets so much type be... typed before going on edit where the smegger deletes a chunk of the text from the bottom if I try to update..!!

Howdy,
Just got thru searching and finding and trying to absorb this series when I noticed that Darkwin had also seen your message in the AggGag/CAC forum and beaten a path to this door. So I had an idea that might interest you both.
Darkwin's series, VOID FRUITCAKE is currently being featured as a regular item in each week's issue of CAC. And I am wondering if this series might take its place when Darkwin has run his course. Of course I'm assuming Darkwin does have an end point in mind and does not intend to ramble on infinitely...
Seriously, the two stories are quite similar in style and I wonder if it might be confusing to the general casual reader to introduce this series while FRUITCAKE is running. That's just my oversimplified reaction and hidden in it is the truth that YES we would like to run this series in CAC. So perhaps Darkwin can suggest here how many more episodes he has planned.
Also, I wonder if Darkwin would offer to copy and edit this series into a GUIDE ML format that would make the lines of dialog a little more readable. By using the feature to shorten the line length and width of the text the whole thing would be much easier on the eye and more readable.
So yes, we will promote it. Be sure to remind me if nothing happens soon. But first let's wait to hear more from Darkwin about my suggestion that he take on some editting duties for AggGag/CAC and my question about many more episodes he plans for his own series.
Also [HPB] Kryten, I suggest you offer the series to 'spook' and his 'Spaced Out Guide'. It's the kind of thing he's looking for.
And again, just so there's no doubt, YES we will feature it. There is nothing quite so frustrating as finding an audience around here. And BTW, how many episodes did you have in mind.

Erm.. Err..
I'm sure how long FRAGMENTED has got to go as I was kind of creating an epic...!
Errm.. Sorry but what was the rest of the convo about?!

Wait, wait! I've gotten used to the many, many links now...
And I'm sure it would fill me with great pride to say that my story is CAC... But I fail to see how my CAC is the same kind of CAC that Darkwin is producing!
Our CACs are coming from entirely different places where my CAC is fantasy yet his CAC is science-fiction...!

>> I fail to see how my CAC is the same kind of CAC that Darkwin is producing! <<
It's a purely subjective and editorial point of view. That is to say it's my point of view. I didn't really say it was the same, only that I worried because the general readership, in its blurry fast-paced rush toward instant gratification, might not immediately see sufficient difference to resist the path of least resistance and simply ignore and dismiss one series or the other if both ran concurrently.
To avoid such a wasteful competition and allow both series to have equal opportunity I am suggesting we save Fragmented until Void Fruitcake has run its course. We still need to hear from Darkwin to determine just how long that might be. And hopefully he might also volunteer to help you with GUIDE ML formatting since he has obviously read and enjoyed your work and offered advice on the way it is laid out.
Glad to see you're getting the hang of links and stuff. The learning curve around here is pretty steep but rewarding over time. So hang in and exercise a little patience and I'm certain you will soon be a famous h2g2 CAC writer.

Sure... I'd love to help with GuideML. Sorry I didn't offer it earlier. And about the Void Fruitcake series... I'm thinking of prabably stopping this something BAAADDD happens lol so, after the Next CAC, we can just put a link saying something like "All the Void Fruitcake series can be found at U223483..." (or I could have a new entry for it). And that way, FRAGMENTED could be featured. In two weeks time, I'll have all the GuideML ready How's that sound?

Well I'm hoping mine will be weekly so I can find time to sit and write the next part!

I'd be happy to feature one new episode of Fragmented each week.
My next deadline is Monday for the May 1st issue if Darkwin can format part 1 by then. Let Kryten know where it is by including his U-number in the 'set researchers' box. Once he's seen and approved it then let me know where your GDML'd copy is so I can pick it up.
As I am doing with Void Fruitcake I'll continue to list links to any previous episodes of Fragmented as we feature each new one.
And let me know if there's a new Fruitcake too, . I'll be happy to continue promoting that series as well whenever there is a new one. There is no real reason why we can't feature both in any or every issue, it's just me worrying that we're offering the reader too much, more than they can absorb in one sitting. We have a history of feast or famine and I'm just trying spread all this good stuff out a bit.

Will it be part I, week I or will it be part I-V week I?
I'd prefer the prior please!
Funny :D A few suggestions...
~ jwf ~ scribblo ergo sum Posted Apr 22, 2003
Yes, part 1 in week 1, part 2 for week 2 (with a link to part 1) and part 3 for week 3 (with links to 1 & 2) etc etc.
Click on this A1025740 to see last week's issue of CAC and notice how we included links to episodes 1,2 & 3 of Void Fruitcake in the paragraph where we feature the release of the then 'new' episode #4. This Thursday we will be featuring a 'new' Fruitcake #5 and have links to 1,2,3,& 4. Starting Thursday May 1st, we'll do the same for Fragmented adding one new episode each week.
Darkwin has offered to make a copy of Fragmented part#1 and do some GUIDE ML editing. When it is finished it will appear on your home page because you will credited as the writer/researcher. You will see that the formatting will be much easier to read.
And once I have seen Darkwin's 'vision' of how your story should be laid out I will probably be able to emulate the style and create GUIDE ML versions of 2 thru 5. I could just do it myself but Darkwin seemed to have some sense of what was needed and I really want to have others giving input to CAC's style and avoid having everything laid out as I might see it. That would get boring.
So keep writing. You'll have about six weeks to get #6 written . Perhaps by then you will be familiar with GUIDE ML and can do the layouts for yourself, by following the style Darkwin will establish, but don't feel pressured on that. Take h2g2 as it comes, there's lots of nice folks around here happy to help out.
Meanwhile perhaps you can think of a few words to introduce your 'epic', something I can quote in my introduction that will make people want to read it, something of your intention or motives or perhaps some background on the ideas behind it, or preview of the characters or the plot, y'know the type of blurbs y'see on book jackets.

Hey... I've finished formatting all five Fragmented they're all so funny lol the endings are all superb. There 'may' be errors on the formatting, so you'll have to check them out and tell me. I'll email them to you... (zipped file)
Funny :D A few suggestions...
~ jwf ~ scribblo ergo sum Posted Apr 23, 2003
Hey that's wonderful. Thank you.
But I have a problem with 'zip'.
I screwed up the zip program on my computer quite some time ago and have had to work around not being able to use zip files. So you'll either have to e-mail them as open pages or put them up as A-numbers on your h2g2 homepage. As soon as I see them I'll copy them to AggGag homepage A-numbers and you can delete your copy if you like.
Thanks Darkwin. Glad you're enjoying doing a litte work for the cause. I'm sure Kryten appreciates your effort and your compliments. And I will acknowledge your assistance in my introduction.
And do let me know by the weekend if you'll have a new Fruitcake for next week. Or, of course, whenever you have anything you'd like us to promote. And if you ever come across anything else by any other researcher that you think should be promoted be sure and let us know.

PS:
I just remembered that the e-mail link on my homepage is to an online addy (canada.com) that does not support any graphix, jave or html. It's text only, and it scrubs off everything including all syntax and functions and converts it to ariel 10 point text even using its own . It seemed the 'safest' way to avoid spam and viruses from unsolicited sources finding the address on my h2g2 homepage.
I could change it to a more supportive address if necessary, but let me know here if you have any objection to putting them up as A-numbers on your page temporarily.

I hope the 'A Thanks for Discworld' tag will stay.
Intro...
'This is a story where only caring for Number One is the only thing stepping in the way of sending a world into Number Two...'
That okay or is it too obscene?
Funny :D A few suggestions...
Darkwin - the critical morass from terrarium Posted Apr 24, 2003
No... it's not obscene. Actually, it's catchy, but it might be a problem for people completely NEW to Discworld kind of stories... and sure, i''ll post them as A-numbers. In fact, that way I could edit if there are any tag errors and thands ~jwf~

Done! Go on to A1032076. Tell me if there's anything you want to edit (or if it's possible for you to do it yourself, that would be easier for you) and congrats for Fragmented on ThePost (soon). Will add Fragmented 2 soon...
