Hello! Can I join?
I found this page in an idle moment, and was surprised how many researchers there are (were?) who are interested in maths.
I'm currently studying maths with the Open University - one unit per year, it's going to be a long haul! I'm currently coming to the end of my first second-level course.
If anyone here is considering OU maths, then let me know, and I'll tell you what it's like.

It's pretty quiet right now.
I just started AS-Level Maths/Further Maths.

Hi John,
Good luck with the AS levels. It's over 20 years since I took those, so maybe it's changed a bit now.
Some of the OU topics, like iteration of functions and cryptography have only appeared in the last couple of years.
What are your plans when you finish?

Well, my name is Douglas, and I love math, although I haven't got that much education in it, so here I am!

Hi
Icy North, and Doug, I've added you both to the roster. Hi. Welcome.
John x 3², and Adder, are you also wanting to be listed? I wasn't sure from your postings.
Sorry for being so slow about this...

I'm on there as "Rogue Nine" - it'd be nice to get the name changed though!

Can I be a member
I very much like Maths.
Oh, and can someone check my 42ism?

Dr. Megabite Posted Dec 10, 2005
I worked out that it's 1+(7x7)+1-(5+5)+1=42.
Is it right?

Hi tetrahedron!
I'm not strictly part of the welcoming committee, but welcome to the maths group!
As you can tell, it's a bit quiet around here at the moment. Every now and then a handful of us discuss maths-related things that researchers post on the main page.
I don't know if we have any professionals in our midst. I'm studying second-level OU Maths at the moment. What's your background?
Are you new to h2g2? If so, drop me a message if you need any assistance in this place.

Must dash now...
