Join the Q: In the Supermarket Car Park
After I took a sneaky photo in a supermarket a few weeks ago, our esteemed Editor Dmitri expressed concern that such things might lower the tone of The Post, which prides itself on showcasing high silliness rather than base humour.
I took my camera to the supermarket this week, but on a mission that I anticipated would meet the Editor's approval.
As I'm taking part in the #my200birdyear challenge this year, I'm looking out for different types of birds. When I was last at the supermarket, I noticed a Pied Wagtail zooming round the car park, with its black and white plumage well camouflaged against the tarmac. However, before I could load up my mum's mobile phone, it had run off.
This week, I made better preparations and just had to hope that the bird would again be out and about.
At first it seemed like Murphy's Law was in action, but then I spotted movement. It was fortunate that I was prepared with my good camera, as the wagtail was again very fast, but I managed to catch just one photo of it in mid-stride before it ran off again in search of food.
While I was out with my camera, I had a look round just outside the car park to see if there were any other birds of interest and found some pigeons and gulls so I added them to my list.
Not bad for one day in what might seem to be an unlikely habitat for wildlife!
