Hi,

I'm considering joining the Artists group, if you'll have me. However, I'm rather more a photographer than an artist so would prefer to help more on that side of things, if that's OK?

I've had some of my photographs included in the book "After Liff" by John Lloyd and Jon Canter and I've started an album of photographs of the names places that I've visited that are included in that book at http://www.ipernity.com/doc/316779/album/519295

I realise those are a bit "geeky" so please see another couple of my pictures at http://www.ipernity.com/doc/316779/26673083 and http://www.ipernity.com/doc/316779/26673067

Cheers - Morseman

Hi Morseman!

I really love your pictures and it would be great if you would join us. smiley - smileysmiley - cool

I guess you have already read about what we do? Most of the times we make pictures for the Guide, for many of the new Entries that are written and will be published on the Front Page. But we also illustrate old Entries and sometimes have some other projects too.

Our main work is done on Trello, so you would have to register there so we can invite you to our group. please also send us an email to artists at h2g2 dot com, because we need your address for the invitation.
We also have a skype channel for the artists and one for all volunteers and we'd be happy to invite you to it.

Thanks and I'll email and look for Trellis as you suggested.

I do have skype on a small laptop, which my boss sometimes uses for conferences instead of dragging each of us up and down the country (the company is based in Sussex, he lives in Lancashire and I live in Derbyshire and my colleagues are spread around the country) but I don't have a camera permanently set up as yet. Might prompt me to get on with that though...

Anyway, I'll get on and do as you suggested. Cheers.

Me again.

Email sent and I've signed up to Trellis using the name "Morseman" linked to the same email account as the one I used to send the email to the artists account.

Thank you! I've added you to our Trello group.

On Skype we only write, we're too many people for voice chat usually. smiley - smiley

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

As you can see Trello is organised in different columns. If an Entry needs a picture it is added to the 'ToDo' list on the left. You can then post to the thread to say you want to make a picture for it. In many cases we also ask the writers to submit pictures.
The 'card' (or thread) then continually moves from left to write as it goes through the different stages.

Our standard pictures have a size of 300x400 px, portrait or landscape. Front Page pictures are 625px wide and 350 px high.

I'm starting to get my head around the Trello system. Please excuse me whilst I get to know how it works as that's a new system to me, but it looks like a work flow system, so I'm used to those. smiley - winkeye

If someone could hold my hand for a while, until I'm used to what you want me to do, that would be helpful. Also, I'm sure that the editors will want to look over what I've done to make sure it conforms to the requirements, just so that no one gets upset with the outcome.

Cheers - Morseman

Yes, it's something like a workflow thingy. We can mobe ' cards' around and assign people to them by moving their avatar picture on the cards. You can also do this yourself if you want to be assigned to a card and make a picture for a certain Entry. By doing this you also get emails if someone posts to the card.

Don't worry, all pictures are reviewed and changes or improvements are suggested if necessary. Cards are usually only moved to the uploading queue by me or sometimes lanzababy, who is a Guide Editor. Probably the most important thing is simply that all the work you post is your own and not someone else's.

Thanks for the welcomes, and explanations.

I'm starting to have a look through entries to see if I have a picture that might fit. Yes, I'll only use photographs or work that I've taken or done myself, of course.

Anyway, off to peruse the entries...
