>Vegetarians in don't eat meat or fish< In what?
Other than that I couldn't see any obvious errors - but I'm a notoriously bad reviewer.
The only other thing is that I wonder about the meat substitutes? Soya or tofu A182620, then the veggies plate can look like everyone else's - sort of.
Otherwise I like it a lot, I like the tone, I like timing.

look like perhaps, but having tried both, not taste like, especially concerning tofu.

Well I'm not a vegetarian and have to admit I've not tasted either but there must be some reason why they have become so popular?

If you want something that will look a bit like the other plates I'd suggest you look at the Quorn range which is much nicer than Tofu or TVP, although it is not suitable for vegans as contains free range eggs

Most Quorn products as welj as containing egg also contain milk products.
Hence I fall out with Quorn occasionally.

They're popular because they're quick and easy vegetarian food.
Less work for meat eaters and good if a vegetarian can't be bothered coooking.
I don't care if my plate doesn't look like other peoples, I don't really want a meat subsitute at Christmas, I'd rather have a vegatable..

Were I a vegetarian, i would agree - i am not really one for going with the crowd, so I'd place taste over appearance (indeed, i despise posh food, and would rather have a really really good (large) basic meal, rather than a complicated thing that masses the same as a slug

Tofu is fun in Chinese food, grilled or stir-fried; I wouldn't count the look of the thing at all. Substitutes hold no attraction.

I don't eat a lot of meat analogs, either- I even prefer that my veggie "burgers" be very veggie-ish patties and not at all meatlike. And I love tofu, but I don't personally look at it as a meat substitute but rather just a protein. I also try not to eat it more than once a month, but that's another issue entirely.
I do make a vegan "tofurky" thing around Thanksgiving, so we can play along with the traditional theme. And I was always a big fan of hot dogs, and especially corn dogs, as a kid, so I occasionally indulge in a vegan hot dog or corn dog, now that I've found a brand at the store that is almost exactly like the real thing (the first veggie dog I tried had the wrong consistency and was pretty gross).
And once a year or so, I cook up a batch of seitan and make "chicken fried steak" for my hubby, because he always loved it so much. But that has nothing to do with this entry, so I will shut up now...

I cook with Quorn - they don't just do ready meals and I don't see it as a substitute for anything - its a good low fat source of protein
Time for tea....

Congratulations: I have to admit that my first response when I read the title of this article was the flippant 'Eat Them'. Tradition and Ethics are like oil and water a lot of the time, and I don't see why the unconflicted should have to be the miracle workers.
