No not if they were allowed to scratch around and feed themselves and not fed intensively produced supplements.

In the UK there is very strong case for some meat production - beef and sheep on certain types of high conservation value marginal land - heaths, moors downs, salt marshes, water meadows etc. Ironically the biggest obstacle to this is many places are objections by dog walkers who see themselves as animal lovers but seemingly are happy to sacrifice wildlife rather than exercise a little control over their pets.

Shall we move this to the not-yet-formed
?
'h2g2 society for debating contentious issues in a civilised way' ?

I agree that's why we need a society to do more of it.

I approve completely then - civil arguing is as important as owning the site, if not more - not much having a site if we can't go on without breaking down

I'll make sure to have a read of it once its finished.

Everyone make sure to get your ideas raedy, I'm going for nuclear power, the dislike of which is a pet hate of mine

"society for debating contentious issues in a civilised way' ?"

An online first perhaps people politely disagreeing and not a single accusation of Nazism, bullying or trolling

The debate about how vegetarians should be dealt with at dinner etc was very interesting - it was just a comment then when this gets put in the EG, we add a link to the PR thread

We don't add links to conversations into Edited Entries.

There's nothing to stop you adding a conversation to the entry, when it is published, with a link in that to the PR conversation.

Thanks for the vegan paragraph. Two small things:

Vegan's > Vegans

many well known brands of stuffing > well-known

Also, you need to tidy the footnotes; 1 has a space before and 2 has a comma it. Both should go.

And another thing:

Stuffed butternut squash, mushroom or peppers would work well, many [well-known] brands of stuffing are vegan.

You should either put an 'and' after the second comma, or else make it a semicolon. A complete clause (one that could stand by itself as a sentence) should not follow a comma.
