I'm Bright Blue Shorts (BBS).
Living in England, down on the South coast (Bournemouth). Have hit my early 30s, partnered up, with small child! Working in IT.
Been watching football since its early days on Channel 4. Lost interest at the start of the 1990s once I started doing many other things. Then especially when it went off terrestrial TV. For some reason I've really got back into this year, now that I have Channel 5 on cable. Also with a computer/internet at home, I can listen to games on a Sunday night.
Am a big fan of the Raiders as they were the winning team in the first match I ever saw on TV. They beat the Dolphins 45-34 (or thereabouts) with Mike Haynes taking back a Marino pass 97yds for a TD.
Unfortunately this was the year after we won Superbowl XVIII, and apart from being blown apart by the Bills in 1990 AFC Championship game I haven't had too much to celebrate until recent years.
Who's everybody else? What's your knowledge of football?

Hi, Eagle 1 here.
Living in Chicago, born and raised in Philadelphia now in my mid-20's. Married a few months ago.
Big Eagles fan by birthright, but really got into football at age 11. Been following the NFL ever since. It's the only league and the only sport where I really follow what's going on.
Being an American male, you're almost required to follow some sport or other, and this is mine.

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like Posted Nov 20, 2002
Do I really have to suffer the humiliation of owning up to being a Seahwks fan again?
Started watching the NFL in my student days because it was that or 'The Antiques Roadshow.' Refusing to follow normal doctrine, did not support team he won the first superbowl I saw (which would have made a Giants fan, as Simms and co. dismembered Elways Broncos), but instead opted to support the team that was the last to beat the Giants that year, The Seahawks. Who failed to qualify for the play-offs.
They have done little but give me heart-ache and misery ever since, and only the Begals stopped them form being the worst side of the nineties, They appear to be determined to win the race in 00's though.

I'm a 27-year old Swedem currecntly living in Scotland (Largs, about an hour west of Glasgow), single, working in tech support for laptops. First ever game I saw was the American Bowl between the Bears and the Vikings in Gothenburgh, Sweden, as they showed it live in Swedish television. That was back in '86 or '87 or something. I then didn't follow the sport until about '93 or '94 when Eurosport showed highlights of the SuperBols between Dallas and the Bills. And because the Cowboys were the best at that time, I started supporting them, and I'm still supporting them even if they've had a couple of bad seasons.
When I'm not at work, I also play American football with a team in Glasgow (Glasgow Tigers) in the second division of the British Senior League, and I also support the Scottish Claymores of the NFL Europe League.

I'm 29 and living with my partner and two sons (age 3 and 2 months) in a small but comfortable flat just outside Bristol. I am employed indirectly by the NHS as a careers advisor mainly answering telephone enquiries, which is a nice way of saying I work in a call centre (lucky me)
I started watching football in 1987, during the strike games (again lucky me) and saw QB Kyle Mackey fail to lead the Dolphins to victory over the New York Jets. No change there then
I'd already decided to support Miami as I was a big fan of Miami Vice and dressed like Don Johnson (hey, I was only 14) - spurious reasons are always the best.
Obsesively recorded every game on TV since that time, and kept most of the recordings (though 88-90 missing as my dad thought beetamax would be a good idea
Have played for the Bristol Packers and Aztecs and coached for the university side, the Bullets. Played runningback in my day and was offered college scholarships by Graceland and Teikyo Westmar universities in Iowa in the early '90s. Unfortunately, scholarships would have covered only 75% of tuition fees and nothing else. Not having rich parents I had to pass
Still, I live in hope of Miami one day reaching the SB and not frustrating me in the playoffs every year. I don't know what's worse, at least Bengals fans know they're gonna be useless - I have to live with the shattering of cruelly built up expectation every January.
I am currently working on a time machine to get Danny and Ricky Williams playing together.

Well, as a cxompetitor in your predictions league, i should introduce myself really:
I'm 21. I'm a student in the dingy north-eastern English city of Sunderland, and although I've never really understand American Football to any great extent (why the hell do they stop every couple of minutes anyway?) I do sometimes watch it when I'm bored and suffering from insomnia, and I'm a fan of the 49ers, for no better reason than I like their badge...

Fair enough reason to support the Niners, I suppose, considering that i Sweden there are a lot of Raiders fans aparently, cause their logo was a cool thing to wearabout 1 years ago, although no one knew what the "Los Angeles Raiders" thing was about.

I didn't think there'd ever be something like this on H2G2... it's about time!
I'm a 28 yr old computer geek from Southern California that didn't like either of the LA teams when they were here, so Good Riddance!
I started playing Pop Warner football (the little league of football) when I was 9, although I knew nothing about it other than a vague impression that it was very dangerous. The first NFL game I watched came a bit later, when my mother ran a huge Super Bowl party at the club she managed, and invited me along. That game was the famous Marino-Montana matchup. I always liked underdogs, plus I liked the Miami logo and colors. I like to go contrary to everyone, too, and a California audience was mostly pro-49ers, so that clinched me for the Dolphins. I watched them get humiliated, and I've rooted for them in many humiliations since.
You know, if we could get enough people here, it might be pretty cool to form an all-H2G2 fantasy football league on one of the free sites.

Welcome Blatherskite ... or should that be Mr Mugwump
How did u find us?
Dolphins fan huh? Well u'll be getting along well with our resident statto, FiedlersFizzle. I'm not sure, however, whether u & I are going to be getting along after this weekend (GO RAIDERSSSSS)
Indeed a fantasy league should be achievable by next season (I'm assuming not much goes on in the offseason). I think we currently have 6 regulars in the forum. We should be able to warrant a bit more "publicity" come the Superbowl.
Anyway hello and welcome to you

"How did u find us?" - I guess the trivia forum was busy enough to propel this onto the front page under busiest conversations.
"Are you looking forward to the Dolphins now traditional late season collapse and early playoff exit… or of you of the eternally optimistic ilk… With Ricky I have some hope this year…" - I think Ricky and Norv Turner are the fix they've needed all this time. The defense has spent a lot less time on the field this year than previously, and they're much healthier because of it. Ricky gives them the type of offense that can play in cold weather, and Norv Turner's system is such a breath of fresh air, considering how predictable and vanilla they've been ever since Shula's tenure ended. They should at least make the playoffs, and exit them with far more grace than the last few years.

Just spotted this on the Front Page.
I'm a 30-summat lab-grunt from Southampton-nil, UK.
Been a Green Bay fan since the Majkowski days and it's been great following the Pack since then.
Got a fair knowledge of the game, even played nose-tackle once or twice. (I'm 6'8" and 20 stone!)
So, I've brought the brats, whose got the s?
GO CHEESEHEADS!

Welcome Thorsman.
Hehe... I'm only 6' and I weighed 150 lbs when I was in a flag football league, but I played DT on defense. I got off the ball very quickly, turned my body sideways, and slipped through the line before the blockers could even gain their feet. Wreaked havoc on the passing game. Good times.
The guys decided to try an experiment and they moved me over to nose, hoping I'd get more sacks if I had less distance to travel. No such luck... my style failed completely there. Not good times.
You must be a true fan indeed if you actually came to them during the days of the Majik man.

I always had a soft spot for the underdog & it was the Packers fans that clinched it for me. I'd see this team getting walloped 38-0 in sub-zero temperatures and there would be guys in the stands wearing nothing but shorts and face-paint going wild.
Nutters. The whole lot of them.

I can think of little to say, other than to congratulate your team on their winning of the inaugural NFC North title.
I hope you will enjoy the forum and be an active contributer. If you're quick you might just catch this week's prediction competition ...
Have a to relax and settle in.
