Well I have been watching since Channel 4 started showing the NFL (about 84 I think), I have been a claymores fan since 97 (the year after they won the world bowl smiley - doh) I am crrently based in Bedfordshire (England) but when I lived in Edinburgh I used to go to all the Claymores home games. I have been to 2 world bowls (Amsterdam and Dusseldorf) as well as an away game trip to Berlin just recently (saw 1 of only 2 Claymores wins this year). Am going to be going to Glasgow in june, which is more than I can say for the Claymores smiley - sadface.

Also I'd like shirt number 30 and position Defensive Linebacker (Position I had when I went to a practice session for the Cambridgeshire Cats earlier this year)

Defensive LineBacker? Is there a position called Ofensive LineBacker that I'm not aware of?smiley - tongueout Good to have you around here at the Am Footy forum, mate. Closer to the date, we'll have to make sure we meet up prior to the World Bowl for a drink or five.

Excellent.. Claymores are organising a Pre-pre-game party at George Square the night before the WB. And then of course, there's the pre-game party at Hampden on the Saturday as well. Lots of opportunities for drinks.smiley - smiley
As I said, we'll get more settled on a date and time once we get closer to the date.

I think the date's pretty settled (it bl**dy well better be after I've booked my flights and hotel)

The time will get sorted.

We will definately be at both parties.

Got seats in the gold section on 40 yard line.

I know the date is settled.. I was more thinking of whether to decde to catch up on the Friday or the Saturday.
We'll (me and a few friends) be sitting somewhere in the vicinity of the Gold section as well. Not really sure at the moment, cause I'm not the one with the tickets, and right now, I'm on the 49-yard line in the Silver section...

Why not catch up on the Friday, and that way if we meet on the Saturday we won't be strangers. Could catch a quick pint in a pub before the party in George square? smiley - biggrin

(Any excuse for a wee shandy or 2 smiley - winkeye)

Of course if you meet up on the Friday and realise you can't stand the sight of each other, it's going to be a bit embarassing if your paths cross on the Saturday smiley - winkeye

Gladly, the cross-eyed bear

Like so many Brits, I first became interested in football through watching Channel 4 back in the eighties and early nineties.
Even came to understand some of the rules. As luck would have it I came to live and work in the States in '92 so my exposure and interest grew.
In the year of the Jaguars and Panthers expansion I happened to be on business in Akron OH at the time of the Hall of Fame Game and was able to get tickets. Jacksonville and Charlotte are about equidistant from where I live and up until that time I had been somewhat of an uncommited fan (in a team sense) so I decided to become a fan of the winner of this game.

The rest, as they say, is history. Thrilled in the earlier years and stoic (British stiff upper-lip don't you know) subsequently. 2002 showed some promise so lets hope they will build on it.

Give me the #89 shirt and I'll play WR.

What brought you in here?

Erm "Jacksonville and Charlotte are about equidistant from where I live" - I take it that's Carolina. So who did win the game, who's your team?

Where do u hail from in Blighty?

Welcome aboard

Wildman smiley - headhurts and I both play the Anagram Game and he gave me the link after visiting my Personal Space.
I suppose I forgot the important bit: the Carolina Panthers won the Hall of Fame Game, so I am a Panthers fan. You were right about the Carolina bit BBS- I live in the South one- Charleston to be exact.
Born in Lancashire, but lived mostly in Carlisle and Essex before I started out on my travels.
Ta for the welcome, I'll have fun smiley - bigeyes
See ya smiley - cheers

Wildman - I'm not really mad, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years!

Welcome aboard, Gladlysmiley - ale

Nice to see you heresmiley - cheers. I seem to be going well as a recruiter, you're the third new member of this league I've dragged in, in the last week or so. I wonder if I can negotiate a percentage of the signing-on fee? smiley - winkeye (What's 10% of b*gg*r*ll?)

Another WR? Jeez, this team is kinda one-sided - where's the defence?

Still, it's nice to see you here, Gladly. With Friar joining up that gives us two Bears - which kind are you - smiley - panda? (best I could manage!smiley - smiley)

I'm up for a bit of "Iron Man" football, though bits of me are less iron than they used to be smiley - wah
Like Friar, I am also a big college ball fan- Clemson Tigers smiley - cat and USC Gamecocks. Didn't own up earlier as they might not have let me in smiley - winkeye. I don't think the college game gets much coverage on yonder side of the ocean, but its huge here.
I'm definitely a cross-eyed Bear smiley - online2long or maybe smiley - cheers
