I'm not really here

Are you having a sneaky play Mr D?

Played it last night from about 4 to 10, only went up 2 levels! Mind you, I am faffing about a fair bit.

Anyone else doing a bit of mining? I carried a pickaxe around but the ore didn't show up, I'm wondering if you have to pick up the pickaxe from the mine itself for them to work.

I am *really* enjoying this whole enchantment thing - being able to destroy magic items and remake them more usefully. smiley - biggrin But I can't remember how to fill soul gems, so I haven't actually remade any yet! I'm saving up to buy the house so I can drop off some of this stuff. Seriously limited with loot I can carry at the moment.

Oh, and I found some mammoths, but by then I'd found some tusks in a cave and stolen them. smiley - biggrin The mammoths were surrounded by scary giants. I did try to take one out, but I'm still pressing all the wrong buttons for attack (it should be X!!!) and it killed me with one blow, so I didn't go back there!

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

I didn't get up early enough for anything more than a quick test to see that it's working...

The graphics card I got is a Nvidia GT 430, one that hardware snobs the world over are insisting won't run Skyrim even a little bit (despite being twice the minimum spec)... it runs Skyrim on High quality! smiley - wow

No further than a few seconds riding in a cart through some snowy landscape before having to quit and get ready for w*rk (which is why I'm on Hootoo telling you about it) but it works on decent graphics so yar boo sucks to the snobs. One little concern is that the ability to looking around seems a little slow and limited but isn't jerky or laggy, so I wonder if that's that just because I'm sat down in a cart as opposed to running around being awesome?

You can't do very much of anything on that cart, I've had no problems looking around, although I still can't turn around very easily in a fight (I slide backwards rather than turn round and walk back).

Think of that cart as interactive cut scene - you're not supposed to have much control at all. It gets better, don't worry. smiley - smiley

I do have some minor lag problems on both keyboard and mouse myself Apparently it's something that can be fixed (PC version, this is) by altering some settings somewhere - do a quick search and you'll find the details online. The tweaks managed to make it playable but didn't eliminate it all for me.

It could also be that although my graphics card is good enough, my processor is not. Although don't most graphics cards have their own processor now? All my PC knowledge is about 8 years out of date. smiley - blush

I managed to get rid of my dog last night. He always wanted to stand on the exact spot that I was standing on, so I spent a large proportion of my time being nudged around or being blocked in by him. The barking I could handle. The constant tripping over him I could not. And I got a cool-looking mask thing out of the quest (although it appears to have cut off my nose - I think it was designed for humanoids).

In w*rk and already can't wait to get home... tried to tell Mrs. D I wasn't feeling well and should stay home but she didn't believe me.

Titania (gone for lunch)

I was going to save up for a house too, but now I've spent almost everything learning blacksmithing. Ah well, need to find some quests that pay well.

Did the Companions initiation quest and rite last night, that was smiley - cool

Need to come up with a name for my Dunmer...

soul gems are filled with the soul trap spell - mage guy in dragonkeep has one. Or there's several soul trap enchanted items turn up everynow and then.

I'm quite enjoying the enchanting thing as well, better than Oblivion, not as good as Morrowind.

I've been mining as well. You don't need the pick for the ore to show up. And, in my experience, all but one deposit of ore so far has had at least one pickax nearby so I don't bother carrying one around. Not sure what skill it uses, I think there's just a rating for how much ore you get out and then random chance of gems. Found a mine somewhere that is paying me to mine it as well smiley - smiley

I keep finding bods offering me up for a fight, bare fisticuffs. Beaten the carp out of a racist Nord in one of the rebel towns which confused the system. immediately he bacame more friendly as I had beaten him, but then when talking to him again, he went back or arsey mode.

"Need to come up with a name for my Dunmer..."
Duncan the Dungeon Delving Dunmer ?

"Duncan the Dungeon Delving Dunmer ?"

Hmmm... perhaps not. smiley - tongueout

My first Oblivion character was called Billy Billsson (I can't remember whether the character actually had the surname in-game though). He went on to become head of the Dark Brotherhood *and* the Grey Fox.

I'm thinking Mawdryn... it has a good Dunmerish ring to it *and* for double smiley - geek points is a Doctor Who reference.

It's a shame in a way that ES games don't use more 'conventional' elf names... means it feels kind of odd using my standard Dark Elf name, D'Vorak.

Wood Elves are usually Droytwych and High Elves tend to be called Tephlon.

Hmmm, interesting names there!
I can't usually be bother over names. Either Vlad/Vladwina for m/f or something silly if I'm feeling in that mood.

No, it seems only the members of the Circle get to be werewolves, guess I'll have to advance...

Eeee! Only three hours until I can play Skyrim!

Thinking about doing a fiction-journal-thing like Titania's doing with Oblivion, that'd be smiley - cool (or smiley - geeky, or both).

I always use a variation of Mina. I'm Minella at the moment, in the past I've been Minetta, Minaretta, etc!

A spell? I'll see if I can get one, I happen to be standing next to him right this minute. If not I'll have to buy them, can't be doing with magic! Except maybe healing.

I'll do some more mining I think, I like being a blacksmith.

Doesn't take much, think you need to take the quests from Skorj (or whatever his name is) as he's in the circle (as is the huntress lady).
You do a quest with huntress lady as shield sister and then get the option from Skorj.

Smithing is fun. Up to Dwarven armour level now, yet still steel plate is the highest rated armour I have, but I don't have the option to create it.

Have you found the lunar forge yet? Pretty cool smiley - smiley

"Mr. Dreadful" doesn't really lend itself to being adapted into a fantasy name...

Nor does my real name... "Dougrym" the Dunmer? Nah.
