On Win-7/IE, I got the prompt "do you want to load the unsecure content", clicked Yes and it restored it.

I don't see that prompt on Chrome/Mac, and Safari/Mac's stopped loading h2g2 altogether (it was ok yesterday).

But Safari/Mac's working again now.

Connecting's somewhat unpredictable these days.

Conversations I haven't looked into yet are no longer highlighted in pliny smiley - erm

I can live with it, but it was a nice reminder and will be missed if this feature does not return

I'm glad the "My Convos" pop-up is still fully functional in Brunel.

I've noticed no problems in Alabaster.

re 28, 29 and 31:

The highlighting works in Safari (Version 5.1.10 (6534.59.10))

but not in Firefox (ESR 45.7.0)

on my 10 year old iMac (running Mac OS X version 10.6.8)

But like I said: I can live with it. I only mention it because it might be a symptom of a bigger challenge, what do I know? smiley - smiley

Another major reason for this change, is that Google will start penalising sites which are NOT using secure http.

As we prefer to be visible in the search results, it was not something which required a lot of consideration.

There are lots of hard coded bits in the site framework which need changing, and we are looking at tools which can either do it on the fly (here is that fly again), or script our way out of the change once.

The highlighting not working, and headers looking funky in the old skins is probably due to a stylesheet being served over http, and your browser not allowing that initially on a secure page.
