For the last week or so a strange bug in Ripley has returned a front page from 13 July 2004, judging from the date of the lead article (back then the front page was being updated on a daily basis).

Is there is some way that this could be linked for the Birthday Edition, it might be fun to show how things looked in the old days. - No I do NOT have an entry on the page.

Better still, is the First Font Page ever in an archive someplace? I'm sure we would all love to read that!

Yes, they are archived and hidden. There's no reason they couldn't be published in a "10 years ago" type feature.

For long running conversations, you should mention:
The British English Thread, which ran from 10 April 2000 until the site was hidden on 25 Jan 2001 by the arrival of the BBC. About 3,500 postings on the subject of English words and usage. Very rarely off topic. The thread was with the moderators until 14 Nov 2002 - that's how long it took them to check through it and make sure it was OK.

Well, The Palace Flophouse and Grill F53219?thread=94632 was opened on December 21st 2000, but its very nature means that it's not updated very often. Only 4,600 posts in 12 years

May I suggest the Short Shorts thread http://h2g2.com/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F2606954?thread=6506119 It contains short short stories, and has stayed alive almost continuously since its inception.

In 2000 - 2001 there was a forum called the BOF INN
with many fabulously imaginative threads spinning off.

There was an entire virtual village established around
the BOF INN. There was a map and everything!

All lost in the backlog during the Great Vogon Detour
through Beebland when most minds were less focused on
just having fun in cyberspace and gravely concerned with
more immediate issues like Moderation, lack of external URLs,
no pics and other draconian measures taken during their
occupation of our village.
