I just opened firefox (I was previously using Chrome) and my convos popup functions correctly from there.
It still can't find the front page in brunel, however.

I didn't touch nothing but my alabaster frames
have lost their header banner. I get a big blank
space with a few bullets on the left as below:

The h2g2.com/home link not working is because /home was never really a named page. It was put in when all the skins were moved onto dna, so that you could keep see the home page in your own skin amongst the bbc urls.
If you want h2g2's front page, it's just h2g2.com 
I'll look into the settings bar in the old skins now.

None of the links work from the Pliny Front page (they work in brunel, though, so it means they are there).
