It's very exciting isn't it.

It's our first major step to updating the Guide. We've brought the launch forward a bit because Ripley's having its problems, so to start with there will be some missing functionality, but it won't be missing for long

That should keep them going for a bit.

*offers Milla in a commuter cup*

Update:

The switch over has started. This means that as soon as your Internet Service Provider updates their records of where to look for h2g2, you'll start to see the new site.

That process can take up to 12 hours, and was one we would have been able to avoid if we hadn't brought the launch forward a bit.

If you can't wait 'til then, you can get to Pliny here:

You'll most likely have to log in again, but it's up and running.

Do remember though, we did bring the launch forward a bit to try and take the load from the older Ripley skins. As such, even though Pliny is a very good first step, it is just the first step. We've got a lot more of the standard features we're used to to still bring over, and we've even more new ones to add over time.

That's too bad. I'll have to stick with Brunel until the convo popup is available in the new skin. It is central to how I use h2g2.

And non-too soon, within five minutes of us setting Pliny live, Ripley crashed again.

I would just like to thank all those volunteers who have loyally supported h2g2 over the past months, tirelessly working together on behalf of the h2g2 community and its wide readership.

There are too many helpers to thank - but I must hug Pastey for the efforts he has made to bring this new version to us.

Ripley was crumbling around our heads, so this has been a really important step.

Are you saying that h2g2.com will soon bring us to Pliny?

Then how can be get to Ripley? Because the Guide Editors need to continue to use Ripley until there are some Guide Editor tools in Pliny.
