Time and place for German meet autumn 2011
You can call me TC Posted Jul 19, 2011
O crikey - this Saturday already. Well - I could make it until about mid-afternoon, but will have to check with family as it's a rare kids-home-from-uni weekend.
Did we really say the 27th for the German Meet? OK - I'll keep that free, although the dates around that time are closing in on me now.

Ooops Bel - I misunderstood. I thought Z was going to be in Heidelberg at some tim.
Anyway, OK - I can join you from about 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday in Frankfurt. Would that fit in with your plans?

That would be great. And you understood right, Z will be in Heidelberg from Sunday afternoon. If you think it would suit you better meeting him there, I'm sure we can arrange something.

I'll stick to the Frankfurt date - the more the merrier. Will bring maps and things to help him around HD if I can find some, though.

Shall we go to the zoo, then?

Bel - I have a new mobile number. Will text to you so you can save it on your phone.
Sorry everyone else for hijacking my own thread here.
Now we must return to some serious discussion for our meet in Hamburg. Seems the only thing that was certain is the venue.

The story so far.
Hamburg is the venue. Most people have a vague idea about the place, so even if there is no resident hootooer taking things in hand, some sort of a plan of where to go and what to do shouldn't be too difficult. A boat trip round the harbour would be nice (if the weather's suitable). Otherwise, we will probably find things to amuse us on the Reeperbahn or Jungfernstieg.
Dates:
The weekends in September are:
3/4 ... 10/11 .... 17/18 .... 24/25
The weekends in October are
1/2 ....8/9 ...15/16 .... 22/23 ....29/30
Pierce has also suggested 27 August.
On this date:
Can: Pierce, Mala, Hapi (probably), TC,
Can't: Toybox, Bel
In September:
3/4 -
Can: Pierce, TC, Wandrin, Mala -
Can't - Toybox, Hapi (probably), Sho, Bel
10/11 -
Can: Pierce, Wandrin, Mala
Can't : Toybox, TC, Hapi (probably), Sho, Bel
17/18 -
Can: Pierce, Wandrin, Mala
Can't: Toybox, Hapi (probably), Sho, Bel, TC
24/25 -
Can: Pierce, TC, Toybox, Wandrin
Can't: Hapi (probably), Mala, Bel
Pierce thinks that October generally is too cold - so this month should perhaps not be taken too seriously.
So this isn't looking too good. On 27 August, 3rd and 24th September, I have 4 names with a "yes", and on the other weekends in September only 3. Have we overlooked anyone who might want to and be able to come?

I am officially easy, I love seeing new places and touristy things. I like old buildings, new buildings boat trips, Zoos and architecture, I like cathedrals and museums, I like coffee and ..er
So we could even see what we felt like depending on the weather.

10/11 September are out now. And we probably need all the August weekends for walk training...

I'll be away between 3 and 19 of September. Other than that, there is always hope (fairly good hope, too!) that I can join, but I cannot be sure in advance.
I have heard the model train museum is quite impressive.

Yes, the model train museum is awesome : http://www.miniatur-wunderland.com
Can I borrow your tipp-ex to clear my calendar for september so I do not have to miss this one ?
P.S. Unfortunately I cannot make it to sausage-town this saturday, RL throwing a spanner in the works

I say august, you say september
let's call the whole thing off
No, really, if only 3 or 4 people can make it I think we should postpone it. I may go see the folk music festival in Tønder (southwest Denmark) on 27. august instead

So it's looking rather .
Do we postpone it till the Spring then? Sorry Haragai - I think this would have been your first German meet, and it looks like it's fizzled out before it really got off the ground.
If only Hamburg wasn't so cold - if we wait till April/May it will probably clash with the next London event.
Please give some definite answers (yay/nay) in the next few posts.
Yay = whoever can make it will be in Hamburg on 27th August and I will be one of them
Nay = I really can't make the 27th August (much as I'd like to) but I will definitely say "no" to any other commitments in April and May (bar my own funeral) and look forward very much to being there.
Then we can start sorting out details for Hamburg in April/May. The London meet will then have to take us into account and not vice versa. Please then pass the message on to anyone and everyone who has ever vaguely expressed an interest in any kind of meet, wherever on the planet .
Hmm ... on reading the two options through again, I realise that there may even be people who are in both categories.
Whatever...... votes please:

Yay
Provided we get more than say 5 yays. Going to Hamburg for a mini-meet is too expensive if I want to go to London in spring also
