Hi Monty!

Great entry! Just wondering >>At a moderate 25% alcohol<<

Is this right? I'd have thought this wasn't that moderate compared to beer smiley - smiley

Thanks Mr Jimster.

I was comparing with stuff in similar bottles, like Whisky or Rum. As something "off the top shelf" 25% is moderate. It looks like hot-stuff, but it's only like double-sherry really. But we can moderate it if you like.

Mont.

Congratulations, another excellent entry smiley - cheers

Style and content wise, I think you've got it right again. My only comment after reading the entry is:

"By the 1920s, Pimm's was being distributed to wherever the sun didn't set, reportedly making it as far as General Gordon's officer's mess in Khartoum, Sudan."

General Gordon died during the Victorian era, in 1885, so obviously he wouldn't have personally drank Pimm's during the 1920s smiley - smiley.

Perhaps you could change the structure of the sentence, so that it says: "...as far as the officer's mess in Khartoum, Sudan, the city where General Gordon was famously killed in 1885" or something to that effect.

Yes, and that will give me an excuse to write my Gravesend, Kent, England entry. Gordon's from there I think. And Pocahontas is buried there, so it won't be completely worthless. Maybe some Dickens in there too.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Another super entry Dr T. I have to take issue with you on one point though - surely the colours of the MCC are tangerine (not "purple") and yellow... leastways that's how Johnners always used to to describe it, and I definately see an orange colour there. Not a hint of mauve. It looks rather red in this picture of the logo actually smiley - erm

Bacon and Egg. Egg is certainly the yellow bit. Bacon is mauve, not tangerine or orange. We need a tie inspection.

Brian Johnson had charisma didn't he? Still does I suppose in a cultish fashion.

Had a look around the web and it's nearly always described as red and yellow, and occasionally as red and gold. Possibly the actual shade of red has varied between purplish and orangish, but I can't say for sure.

Colours are weird. I wouldn't myself describe Pimms as mahogany, but I can see why it could be, if you see what I mean.

This is greeat! Great style, great info. The whole nine yards. Only one thing: what in heck is borage? We alsways used to serve it with mint and a cucumber when I was a barperson (if you were lucky). Is borage some kind of blanket term for scruffy bits of salad?

Borage - like me it is coarse, hairy, european and flowery! Unlike me however, it is a herb.

A marvellous entry, describing probably my favourite pint ...er... aperitif. Pity we had such a lousy summer, as it's definitely something to be enjoyed in the sunshine.
