Well, call me an unamginitiv stupid petty-minded old moron if you want to, but why not stick to stripes and stars?

because they r not smilies and creatures look cool. i prefer the original ant to mouse to cat to dog to spider to fish to fish to fish to fish to fish to fish. makes an animal symbol rank up cool creatures fish thing.

I'm not sure about using smileys that are used in everyday conversations. It could get confusing.

Maybe the officers could have one sort of symbols and the men others?

hence the colourful, original, animals. although the animals could be combined with something else if u wish...
