The Path to the Wonderfull High Mountain
Santragenius V Started conversation Aug 30, 2002
The path, seemingly not worn by many travellers, climbs gently into the foothills of verdant, wooded slopes with outcrops of slate.
The ground is wet (it has been raining for days!) and the sky is that particular shade of blue you get after a downpour. The sun is bright on the upper slopes (the valley has become steep sided and the stream in the bottom is in shadow).
As one approaches the pass one gets the impression of potential...has civilisation got this far?... what beauty awaits?
You reach the highest point of the path and a vision greets you.
The path drops away from you to a valley below. The precipitous mountain slopes to either side are of slate scree with a multitude of waterfalls tumbling down to a stream which rushes down to the valley bottom, crossing the path here and there.
There is a small settlement at the far end of the valley made up of grey cottages, a church and a school house. All have slate roofs and are painted in a riot of colours.
There are signs of mining beyond the village but all now looks deserted and abandoned. Did they mine for slate, lead or perhaps gold?

wonderful!:
I can see the view precisly (as precislyh as I imagine it)...
Right, shall we endevor to find a pathway down toward the village, preferabably one that doesn't entail (too much) free-feeting it down the scree slopes, as can happen, especially with this recent covering of rain
OO, just in time!: look at that sunset!

Yes...the sunsets here are great, especially over the Mountains to the west.
And there's a rainbow at the valley head!
I think there is a path over there to the left. It looks like an animal track, probably worn by sheep over the years.
Shall we...

Hello! Anyone mind if I join you?
Looks like you've chosen a good place for a picnic. I've brought a flask of good hot and some if anyone would like some.
