Sorry, all meant as a joke!! I have yet to make a serious article and am sorry if I offended you or anyother scotts out there (The truth being I am part scottish!). However, I did not mean this as a Scottish insult at all, just playin off of more gereral English prejudices. I have recieved good feedback about this line, however, and do not wish to change it, but if many more complain I will.
Sorry 'bout that!
Dave

Please ... I was just joking, truth be known I have an English accent not a Scottish one! I moved from Scotland when i was 4 and only just moved back 2 years ago
You are right of course and the line is quite funny, I was just kidding with you. One way to get people to talk to me though!!

as I have posted on another thread I do find the comment about scots offensive-and being 'part scots' is not an excuse/reason.
try living in Scotland/or as a Scottish person and see how funny it is. it's just a watered down form of racism.

Umm.. its called a "Joke." As I have before stated, it is more a play on a stereotypical English belief then one on the Scottish people. If anyone should be offended, its the English readers. (Yes, I know the "joke" comment could be taken as offensive. Oh well)

yeah-but jokes can lead to more serious stuff-it's racism-maybe not on an enormous scale-but try
seeing what sectarianism causes
and the like.

Its not racism! Its making fun of racism. Theres a huge difference. I read your article on racism and realize how seriously you take it, but this is far from racism.

I know what you are 'trying' to say-but there are so many sick thugs out there-they don't see it as an attack on them-they think it justifies what they do.
I just think it's a good article that doesn't need that line.
we will just have to agree to disagree.

On the same subject I want to ask something, apart from the william wallace and england being the big wigs in Britain, why is there still such a rivallry between Scotland and England. Its very hard to live with as being in Scotland with an English accent I find it hard to leave the house after dark as people do not like to hear the English accent in there part of the word. Why should we have to suffer for a war that ended over 100 years ago??

I don't understand it at all-I have had trouble in my neighbourhood from english fighting with scots/scots fighting with english-and I hate
what football can cause!

Yeah but it is not just the football its accents. At the moment i am having problems because someone keeps phoning the police on the drunks downstairs. Because i have an english accent in a scottish town i am getting abuse from them as i must be a "snob". but down in england i am ok. i hate it i think i will just move somewhere where both the english and scottish accent is classed as "quirky"

well that's my whole point about
the article-if the person writing it had to live like that
they might see what I mean-it doesn't put thickos in their place-it gives them the idea that it isn't serious.
I just don't know how, when there is so much illness and suffering in the world people have to be so small minded as to
pick on accents-probably if you
heard me talking you wouldn't know where I came from and vice versa-but people like to guess!
