Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

Hi Linda, thanks for your message alerting me to this most welcome feat of categorisation! smiley - smiley

The ones by me besides those you've already attributed are:
B820620 Crossed Purposes
B827656 Aroma Cafe
B827661 Aroma Cafe Float
B827663 Aroma Cafe Shelves (origanlly known as "mug shots")

I also did a float for CLI which depicts two staunch fellows and a purple bot inside a listing UFO which looks more like a Studebaker... and would it be possible to get the sign blobbed for Lil's Atelier, as well as the logo for CLI? I believe Amy was helping me out on this a while back, but I never heard what became of it, them. smiley - erm

Thanks,
Lil

Oh, and Munchkin has a waistcoat-of-arms he might want to have blobbed; he's quite proud of it. smiley - smiley

Thanks! I've added you on as artist for these, plus changed the 'shelves' back to your original 'mug shots'. smiley - smiley

I'm not sure what CLI is?

We can't take requests for blobs at the moment, but we will bear these in mind. In the meantime, try to think of categorising the art as a good start. (Slow, but good. smiley - smiley) We're trying really hard to find all the art that's already onsite.

CLI is Crater Labs, Inc., and they have a long history as a forum on H2G2. I did a float for them for the first annual birthday parade, and this is what it looks like:

I am sure you must already have it around -- your fellow italics will certainly recognise it! smiley - smiley

Did Lil's Atelier not ever get blobbed then? If I had been aware earlier that I could do that, I would have, but I didn't know until Amy the Ant told me...

I haven't seen that picture around anywhere Lil, sorry.

I posted on Ask h2g2 to encourage people to help me find the pictures, but I didn't get much of a response. smiley - blue If the Community won't show an interest, then I can't ask for time to blob new pictures. smiley - wah

I'm sure if the pictures were to just stop coming people would pay an interest and start protesting at the fact. but they think that we all get pictures on H2G2 by some magical means. so there not woried.

True. But the next person to complain because they can't have a graphic for their club is going to get a very smiley - cross look.

Some of the floats were blobbed but I don't think Lil's was amongst them. I have all the floats collected here: A454411.

Where were the floats when they were onsite Amy? It was before my time, so I wouldn't know where to start looking for them.

The following is being posted as a request from (Asteroid) Lil:

I have been trying for several hours to get this page to load, so that I could read the thread and then respond to it. I am so very far downstream from the BBC, in a rental with funky phone lines that keep me at 33K, that connection is a real issue for me. I was even disconnected whilst trying to refresh this thread.

I mention this because if you hear a note of frustration creeping into this post, you will understand its cause. Browsing the site and exploring new fora is nearly impossible when you only have a 50% chance of having the page load, and when that download takes minutes. I tend these days to depend on my fellow salonistas at the Atelier for important news. And on bad days, I
don't even try to follow the links they post because I'm not certain
I'll be able to get back.

My failure to have seen your notice in "Ask H2G2" is not because of lack of community spirit, but because of the circumstances I've described above. "Lil's Atelier" has been going for a long time, and it was an art gallery, pre-BBC, very graphics-intensive. A fair number of people still participate there, and most of the several hours a day I spend here is divided between waiting for pages to load and keeping up with the backlog in that one forum.

So I apologise for not having responded in good time when you were trying to get the data organised. I feel very badly about this whole matter.

And I also feel badly about the matter of the missing float, because I've let CLI down. After we became part of the BBC and our graphics presence was removed, I cut a lot of links and moved my art to my own website. I don't know what page the CLI float was originally presented on.

The floats, I believe, were part of a celebration sponsered by The Post. Floats were put up on user pages and then linked to an article in the post.

Mina, a place to start the search might be U202924 but you'll need to break open the vaults to find the links.
