Talking Point: Much Missed TV
Created | Updated Jun 7, 2010
Last month saw a clutch of much-loved and highly addictive TV series coming to an end. Some - like BBC One's Ashes to Ashes and US drama Lost on Sky1 - tied up their loose ends in a sort of satisfyingly neat bow for their devoted fans1. While others, like American superhero serial Heroes, which was axed after its most recent season, have been whisked off our screens before they were able to come to a proper conclusion.
But with the news that the BBC's longest running sitcom Last of the Summer Wine is this year to breathe it's, erm, last, and - at the other end of the television spectrum - all-action, real-time drama 24 also clocking off for good, it got us thinking about the much-missed TV series of the past.
Is there any TV series that you still miss? Were you dotty for Dallas? Are you still distraught that they blew the final whistle on One Man and His Dog? Do you wish they'd bring back Follyfoot?
Are there any TV shows of the past that you think deserve to be brought back for a final hurrah or reunion show, or are long overdue a Doctor Who-style revival? Is it high time It's a Knockout was brought back to give http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00lpnkdTotal Wipeout a run for its money?
Or do you think that those shows are better left where they are, in the past? Were the series you loved as a kid really any good2? Surely today's telly is much better than it used to be? Isn't it?
Over to you...
