Hi Psychocandy,

I saw the first series of the SJAs. It's good for what it is, but it's aimed squarely at kids - so you'll need a tolerance for cutesy-kids-get-the-better-of-the-grown-ups plots, and there isn't the scare-factor of Who. K-9's not really in it, and there are a few amazingly naff things like the cringe-inducing Mr Smith computer and the sonic lipstick. I do like the nostalgia of the 25-minute cliffhanger format, and it's diverting enough given there's no other Who on TV at the mo (except repeats). Except that I'm at work when it's on.

Anyone know whether Season 1 will be out on DVD any time soon?

Season 1 will be available on DVD here next Tuesday (October 7), so I'd thought about adding a disc to the Netflix queue to see what it's like. I don't necessarily mind cutesy-kiddie plots, but if K-9 isn't in it...

At 25 minutes an episode it wouldn't be hard to squeeze in somewhere, once we're done catching up on all the old Who.

Sonic lipstick, eh? A bit girly for me. smiley - laugh

you'd have thought with the new penchant for sonic-thingies the new Who would have managed a (subtly) sponsored sonic toothbrush somewhere along the line.

If they came up with one, I'm quite certain I'd "have to" buy one. smiley - rolleyes

They have Sonic Showers in Trek don't they?

I want one of those, too. Empty hot water heater- no longer a problem!

On the other hand one of the things I like about showers is getting wet...

I prefer wet showers as well. But sonic showers would be preferable to freezing cold wet ones.

Oh yuck!! A freezing shower is horrible!!! A sonic one sounds better. Though not entirely sure how they work.

Wouldn't mind a real sonic screwdriver too. Think of the fun you could have playing tricks on people.

Wouldn't a sonic shower be sort of like being blow dried?

Doesn't sound very nice to me.

Yeah. Doesn't seem to have all the relaxing of shower gel and stuff. Though something in my head says there's definately steam involved.

I figured a sonic shower would just emit a high-frequency sound that would dissolve all the grit. But I imagine it probably would really wind up being more like being blow-dried.

A real sonic screwdriver would be handy, and not just for opening doors. I've got tasks around the house that would be much easier with one of those!

Blimey! I just watched Day of the Clown pt1 from this afternoons Sarah Jane Adventure. I should imagine there were a few kids scared by that one. Makes me wish I had kids of my own so I could don the greasepaint and wake 'em up in the middle of the night to give them a red balloon smiley - evilgrin
