Excellent news.
Can we all raise a glass to h2g2c2 and Z in particular? A hearty and awestruck "Well done", guys.

>>>I don't think we could've hoped for a better outcome really!
We totally agree. This seems to us as the very best of outcomes in terms of keeping the community at the heart of H2G2 and cherishing the core values of this wonderful site. It feels like it's landed in safe hands.
We're going to put up a more detailed statement from Robbie Stamp hopefully at the end of today and the conversation thread around that statement is probably the best place to field any questions you may have. We've read through what he has to say - it's inspiring stuff - and we're assured of H2G2's future and continued success. Here's to the next ten years!

Bloody well done to the Consortium Committee. The absolutely immense amount of work they have done deserves such a reward.
Thanks guys - you really are appreciated

BMT Posted Jun 21, 2011
It goes without saying,my views on this haven't changed. I do have questions and concerns however.
1.I take it NONE of my personal details, such as e-mail, bbc-id, log-on info will NOT be passed on to the new owners?
2. I said from day one via the scout forum, here and to Nick Reynolds, none of my user generated content can be passed on to anyone or any organisation outside of the BBC. That still stands. My permission for such an action is NOT granted.
3. If any of the above does occur I will have no hesitation in instigating legal action against the new site and the likes of Nick Reynolds to prevent this happening.
The BBC don't need me to tell them about their legal obligations under their own privacy policy and the more wider data protection act.
Just to reaffirm, none of my personal details or content is available outside the bbc. They can archive or delete it.
BMT.

BMT, isn't point 1 saying that your personal details WILL be passed on to the new site?

I think that's just a mistake.
I'm also pretty certain that there will be procedures in place to handle all this sort of stuff.

There has to be one rain-cloud on every gorgeous day ... Thanks, BMT
On the whole, it seems to be the best of all possible worlds, ... An original dreamer of h2g2, a passle of the actual community, and a group with the business experience and savvy to keep things on the safe keel.
Damned well done to all of the 'consortium' for your efforts!

Wow. That was... probably better done some place where people aren't celebrating.
If you don't want your stuff to go with h2g2 in the transfer that's fine but really, why come here when it's all and and kick up a stink about it? It's your loss, in my opinion.
