Thursday, 17 February 2011: H2G2 Sale - The next step
>>
how much writing goes on these days??
even i remember a new front page every day, now its a new front page every week!!!!
ther may be a few rose tinted specs around
<<
Geeze, have you not seen how much effort has gone into discussing the EG?
Of course the EG is at a low ebb. We've had two years of uncertainty and broken promises. We've lost many people, many of whom came back when they heard about the sale and then got involved in the consortium. But there are plenty of people who are waiting to write again once the site is functional once more. Myself included.
I may have rose tinted glasses but I can still see better through them than you can through your grey foggy depression ones. Or your conspiracy ones

>>murdoch bought the huffington
So? That doesn't explain why they would by h2g2. The Huffington has all sorts of assets that Murdoch would value that h2g2 doesn't. How can you even compare the two?

this is it for me,
i'm just chatting
i havent seen anyone for a propper chat for about 3.5 hours and won't have any meaning full RL conversation for the next 4-6 hours, unless some bright spark decides to create some 'body art' with a razor blade.....?

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Jun 3, 2011
There is still some writing - not a huge amount for the Edited Guide because the Eds won't publish it, but there is new content written every week for the Post and the Underguide also produces new material.
The figures of 10 and 5 were based on my own observations, but I think they're fairly accurate. People harp on about minor things, but there are very few missing features that we really need and only a few bugs we really need fixed.

You could always start a thread in Ask about a conspiracy theory (not about hootoo or the beeb though <grovel)... I'm around today so will come along and stir some shit.

So the stuff that many of us are missing is unimportant? That is the attitude that got h2g2 into this trouble in the first place.
It would be better if you were specific Gnomon, because you are saying reassuring things but I don't feel safe yet. What functions do you think are still missing? What are the minor ones?

the worst bit is the whos on line box, before berklessk i could go looking for people to chat to at silly o'clock in the morning who were on line, now there are around 300 names, most of whom have not been here for years!!!!
will that be put right??
Thursday, 17 February 2011: H2G2 Sale - The next step
That's weird. That wasn't with barlesque though was it? It's more recent than that?
Thursday, 17 February 2011: H2G2 Sale - The next step
Why haven't we had an update on what bugs have been fixed and which functions reinstated?
If the Eds are still working on the fixes, and some of the things have been fixed, there should be a list.

I think that's because we are part of the BBC and it's showing everyone who's online on the BBC boards. The old users thing is freaky though - really spooky - I think they're Doing Things to the BBC ID. Makes me nervous.

there was the whos online that showed everyone and then the hootoo one, but that keeps showing around 300-ish even at times when there only used to be around 10 of us in!!!!!
