h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

An exciting announcement!

After many months of development we've finally got the H2G2 redesign to a place where we can now give you, the community, a preview of where we're at. What we'll be showing you next week is a Read Only version of the new site. We'll be making another announcement when it is ready with a link to the new site, as well as posting that link on the Front Page. You'll be able to navigate around and read certain pages, but you won't be able to sign in and actually do anything. Also some buttons and pages will be either greyed out or missing in preparation for the full launch later this year. However, we just wanted to give you a chance to see the general look and feel of the new site, as well as an idea of what we've been beavering away at for the last six months.

There will be a chance for you to feed back to us with any comments or corrections once the link is up, and we'll point you towards a specially created Feedback page just for this purpose. Please bear in mind, this isn't a major overhaul of the way the site works, this is a site refresh - we've updated the look and feel and hopefully made the site much easier to navigate, and also easier to grasp for newbies and casual lurkers who might now be more tempted to join in. There are a few exciting new features, as well as some changes - for example the change from lower case h2g2 to upper case H2G2 - that we will tell you more about, once the Read Only version is live, and you've had a chance to look at it.

We're very proud of the results. But it is your site, so it is important that you tell us what you think of the redesign too, so you'll have your chance to do exactly that next week.
