Two problems so far:

I can't stay signed in for some reason, though I did check the box. And when I do sign in, it takes me to the first post in the convo I was looking at, rather than where I was in it.

But those are minor.

Malabarista, have you checked to see if you have cookies disabled? That might account for why it won't remember you're signed in on this computer. It might affect the convos as well, but maybe not.

Anyway, it's something simple to check.

It could be a cookie problem, of course - but it always remembered me before, and I didn't change my browser settings. I also stay signed in in my (*gasp*) other fora. So I'm assuming it's not at my end.

Hey, Malabarista... I think you may be right about it not being on your end. When I started this computer today, h2g2 remembered me. I just restarted Firefox and it didn't; I had to click on 'sign in'.

Also, I did notice a couple of intermittent convo issues yesterday. Namely, when I clicked on "1 new post" in the My Convos thingy it did nothing. That's normal when that convo is the last one I was reading and it's still on the same page, but this was a different convo. After a refresh, it worked again.

Fiddling little errors as they get BBCiD tweeked, I'm sure.

Hmmm, I've not noticed the new convos thing, but I always open them in new tabs anyway.

I'm back, and on my original number. It does seem that I created the problem in the first place by getting my username wrong , so many thanks to the Eds who sorted it out.

That's great news. I was worried that the Eds wouldn't be able to fix problems like that.

Eds - does this mean you'll be able to accommodate returnees in the future?

I got logged out overnight. That happens on phpBB forums sometimes but never had it happen on h2.

Finally got back in!

I was logged in OK in other parts of bbc but in h2g2 got a 'click here to complete registration' which did nothing. Had to sign out from bbc then come back to h2g2 to sign in from there. Hope it's all sorted now!
