Radox, the bbc has always used a redirect for h2g2.com. I've been using it since the foop.

I may have a problem after all. When I sign out of H2G2 and then sign into the new system, and then find my way back to H2G2, I find that I am *not* signed into H2G2. This must be the "Carry over your details to BBC iD" step that never appeared when I signed into BBC ID. UNless someone can think of a way to retrieve my old H2G2 stuff, I will essentially be starting over with a blank slate.

No... I think your alright: Esentially H2G2 hasn't* gone over to the new BBCID signin system yet; so you still have to sign into H2G2 with your username/password, even if you've just come from another BBC page using the BBCID system, to which your signed in....
As I understand it, so long as you can go to say the IPlayer page, and sign in using your H2G2 username and password; and get the 'sign out' link appear, (thus demonstrating your signed into a BBC site using your BBCID), then all should be fine; so long, as that BBCID sign in is using exactly the same sign in name/password as what you then need to put in in order to sign in to H2G2 (which is still using SSO until such time as we switch over to the BBCID signin)... once H2G2 is switched from SSO to BBCID, then you won't need to sign in twice like that...

We need a new badge: "I survived SSO, but BBC iD killed my old account"

I think that 2legs means that both systems are running in parallel at the moment. But they are not joined up yet.

Thanks for the reassurances, lanzababy and 2Legs. I guess I'll wait and see what happens. I am definitely registered in the new system; I checked on that. If worst comes to worst, I will migrate all my journals and Personal Space info. from the old page to the new page. Surely that can't take more than six months--can it?

If you're registered in the new system with the same username and password as in h2g2, then that's all you need to do.
