I noticed that Firefox was blocking a popup on hootoo occasaionally. So I went and had a look at the HTML source of said offending page.

From that I saw that it was something nice and ligitimate. then allowed it once filled it in, then blocked it again.

points to note:

designed so that in theory to ask 1 in 5 people.
If you have cookies for the bbc allowed fully, then you should only get asked once. otherwise it dosn't know that it might have asked you before.

Re: seeking the survey with intent to fill. Wouldn't it skew the results if they want a random sample? People who are happy enough or unhappy enough to seek out the survey will probably give different responses than a random sample of researchers/users.

I got it twice. I think I was using two different computers.I filled it in the second time cause I didn't know that it was going to be the same.

But at the moment the results are already skewed, with the surveys mainly being filled in by people too stupid to stop the popup... smiley - nahnah

I don't get it. My Safari chews up pop-ups and spits them into the void of cyberspace but not this pop-up. smiley - grr I've set the controls to block them coming from the Beeb but it still shows it's silly little head.

I'm glad someone has finally mentioned this.

No doubt it's probably different depending on which skin you choose to view hg2g. I have never seen an orange button. As a framed alabaster I generally expect to be treated as a minority so I've held my tongue until now. But you have given me the courage to finally speak up: Mine's green.

No, because you can't choose a different skin if you aren't already signed in. smiley - geek

My sign in button is Brown with yellow. I am using Firefox with pop-up blocker. It works well. I figure if they want people to respond they could put a notice out with a click-on address. But maybe h2 just want the people who are not annoyed by constant pop-ups. I wouldn't mind them if it was only those Belgium women but I used to get a lot of "Is your system slowing down?" stuff. Come to think of it I don't think I ever got those Belgium women pop-ups. Must be another one of those UK things!

S&T I have version 1.2.4 (v125.12) and it's easy enough to block *all* pop-ups by just chosing *Block Pop-Up Windows* from the *Safari* menu (just under Preferences) but I was trying to block just BBC pop-ups. I guess I settle for the whole tostada. smiley - smiley
