Yup, that's the ICan categorisation system you're looking at...

One thing's just completely confused me though...

How the heck did I end up categorised... C17634smiley - online2long ???

Number Six

How bizarre!

Should we be able to view iCan pages through an h2g2 skin though? I find the whole thing damn confusing.

If that *is* possible, can we look at h2g2 through the Collective skin? I find it hugely preferable, aesthetically speaking.

Indeed. And who is "Morton"?

Morton is an area of Carlisle - as are all the other subcategories of that list - apart from me of course smiley - winkeye

I think this is yet another one of those side effects of the new system recently introduced which shows links in your own skin, regardless of where you are in the dna network... If you wanted to look at hootoo in the collective skin I think you'd have to create a new login via collective - but don't quote me on that as I'm just guessing - the whole system's getting a little too complicated for me nowadays (must be getting old)

Ah, sorry, at first glance it looked like "Morton" was an as-yet unannounced italic. smiley - silly

It's a side-effect of allowing people to add classifications of their own some time back. Lots of silly things got added.

I thought moderation was going to be slow during the move. They were quick enough there - 3 minutes!

Have a look at it again, it's not a moderated post smiley - winkeye

And I see they still haven't fixed the "Removed/Hidden" bug... (Postings hidden during moderation are titled "Removed", while if they are actually removed they are titled "Hidden"...)

Whisky, if it wasn't moderated, it would say "Posted (x) minutes ago by (Whoever)"... Even if you could create a blank user name you couldn't suppress the "by" part. smiley - geek

No, he's right, it's a researcher on pre-mod. I only saw the "Hidden" in the conversation list and didn't notice the content of the post itself.

Elentari

Sorry if this seems stupid, but I don't understand what this new "Top" category is. Also, am I to understand that the locations pages are not a h2g2 thing, but an ICan thing? I've never seen them before, what are they for?

Help!

And now it isn't moderated any longer.

* waves hello to SEF *

Whisky, you're not the only one who has been categorised. Check out C40262 which is me in my French guise of some time ago. My guess is that bits and bobs of information used to sign up to the iCan site made it into the categorization. Oh, and in doing the checking it spat out what it believes is your real name.

Just to answer Elentari's question, the 'Top' category has always been there. That takes you to the top level of the tree, which is where you can make your choice of journey to Life, Universe, Everything or All About h2g2.

And yes, if you know the right C-number you can view categories in other sites, but that one you saw earlier was because of a rogue digit in the C-number.

We;ll hopefully get the time to continue sorting the categories out over the next few weeks. If any obvious groupings occur to you, feel free to post suggestions to the <./>Feedback-Editorial</.> page.
