You are probably all keeping the conversation too interesting. Various people said they don't unsubscribe while it is interesting or unless it turns into a "cuddle fest" (I think the term was).

I never unsubscribe, unless I find a conversation offensive.

What I meant by cuddle fest is a situation where, IRL, you'd say, 'Get a room!'

I have to sheepishly admit that I got the wrong midnight. Am I the only one here who translates "midnight on Tuesday" as being zero hundred hours on Tuesday? That is, I understand midnight to be the starting point of a twenty-four hour period. The last moment of a day is 11:59:59, not midnight.

Just a thought. Perhaps future announcements, gods forbid we should need them, of downtime, could be more geeky about specifying the time. As in "00:00 GMT, Wednesday 18 February".

I must admit, I was confused and had to re-read the message to establish that it is tonight rather than last night. Not that I really care, I shall be piling up the zeds long before that I hope!

The other DNA site that I use only posted up message about site downtime at lunch time today, so at least we got some reasonable notice!

Yes, around tea-time here in the mountains of the Southwestern US. Hence the specification of GMT.

I didn't even realise that any downtime had happened at all unitl I saw this thread at the top of my convo list just now.

I certainly thought it was going to be tonight, and, autosuggestion obviously helped, as there have been no hiccoughs today at all!

i would suppose it would depend on wether "whom ever it may apply to" has been useing h2g2 as a "treatment or therapy" for any other reason should have a alternative ""
