I do have better arguments and I have posted them previously.

I commmented about giving a false name because some people have commented that they feel threatened that were asked for there full names.

I don't think that they need to balance every ant war comment with a pro war one, but they need the odd pro war one to throw in there...

Scrub that smiley - erm

The thread that I posted to which asked about BBC policy and h2g2 seems to have vanished *poof* with not a trace that it ever existed!

So in addition to moderation, part time working, and restriction of debate we have a reinvention of history! At least here you get a message left in thread explaining why a post is no longer visible, and a message from the management saying that they've taken your post down.

Ralph the Wonder Llama and André the dodo; Excrement Occurs

This smacks of censorship, you know that?

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I thought one of the reasons for H2G2 was the freedom to discuss whatever issue we want in a hopefully civilized manner. And the Iraqi situation is one which potentially effects us all and H2G2 would have been the ideal place to discuss this. Oh well, guess not.

Felonious Monk - h2g2s very own Bogeyman

Perhaps you are being naive: it's not the primary purpose of h2g2 and it certainly wouldn't serve to differentiate it from millions of other chat sites on the Internet. Anyway, if it is censorship then it's not specific *viewpoints* than are being censored. And there are always other places you can talk about it, just not here, not now.

Its probably to do with the fact that 'careless talk costs lives', and BBC (rightly, in my opinion) wants to focus its moderation efforts by restricting discussion to a certain portion of its website. I can see perfectly well why it would want to do this .

Why do I have to rgegister on the TGD site?

I am registered on H2G2 and the Beeb intimated recently that is you were registered on one "community" site this would allow you access to other community sites.

Or is this just another ploy to pi** people off and limit debate?
