Won't it be funny if/when they close the conversation about the closing of conversations?

"I tried to post 'test' there You just get the post to a conversation screen again with nothing underneath, and the post doesn't get on to the thread."

I tried that too.smiley - blush Couldn't help myself.

I am subscribed to the Announcements and they came on my list even though I was offline when they went in.

Sorry I don't have time to read the backlog here, but I have tried to reply to the two new threads this morning and find it won't let me.

I'm not overly worried, I just wondered why I can't.

"It states clearly on top of the lists the conversation is closed.

But I guess we needed some confusion after all so they left the (useless) [reply] buttons in "

They "closed" the threads after the first post and redirected the conversations elsewhere through a link, so only people actively taking part in the conversations would be subscribed to them rather than everybody who's subscribed to "Announcements" receiving notification of every posting. smiley - geek

Subject: 3 April, 2006: Transgressions Procedure Revised
Posted 1 Hour Ago by The h2g2 Editors Post: 1

The Transgressions Procedure for h2g2 has been revised with immediate effect. The revised procedure outlines the process of what happens when postings or entries are removed and what the likely stages are before a full ban becomes inevitable. The biggest change to the procedure is the removal of the final voting on the part of the community, which left Researchers open to abuse from departing members of the community and is extremely time-consuming for the in-house team. Crucially, it also meant that previously, users acting in a manner that seriously jeopardised the service could not be dealt with promptly.

The Transgressions Procedure should be read in conjunction with the House Rules [HouseRules] and the Moderation FAQ [Moderation-Guidelines.

More information can be found on the Transgressions Procedure page [HouseRules-Transgressions].

If you wish to discuss these changes with the h2g2 Community, you can do so here: F55683?thread=2636475

button - which takes me to a "Please do not start a new conversation here" page (which was always there, but I could type a reply to the post one and post it)

I *am* subscribed to the Announcement page, and I'm posting in Classic Goo, before you ask smiley - smiley

Directly above "Post 1" I have two blobs of Goo, hover over the blank blobs and I get "There is no next posting" and "There is no new posting"

(post two would have a downward arrow normally)

Make that:

post two would have a UPward arrow normally - which says "Previous Posting"

Does anyone else here use Classic Goo? I'm really loathe to use other skins, except when I'm printing off articles..

OK

~shudder~

I just flipped the convo over to Brunel and then Plain skins.

It clearly has a grey box which says the conversation is closed.

It doesn't have such a box in Classic Goo.

I feel vindicated now, and happily back in Classic Goo, so I'll scoot off before I cause any more trouble...smiley - run
