'So what's going to happen to 606?'
Maybe the rest of DNA will form an alliance and declare war on them.

There's nowt wrong with 606.
As a user of that site, it's hardly our fault if football is very, very, very popular in Britain

Whose fault can it be if not the fans'?
The technical problems aren't the fault of 606 users, but surely they do contribute to the popularity of football.

Hootoo is working like a dream for me now here in France; so to the poor souls behind the scenes who must have been weeping, wailing, gnashing teeth & murdering ham(p)sters & fans.
Did anyone ever get to "minus 42posts"??? I reckon a h2g2 Tshirt is in order for that one!

Traveller in Time searching
"I did ever (some time last year).
One good thing is that postings moved to another Forum, show up if you are informed of new postings on that other Forum.

A touch offtopic -- you know, for an Announcements thread this is adhering to the original topic remarkably strongly -- but an h2g2 meme appears to have spread into academia. After stumbing across http://www.nextthing.org/archives/2005/08/07/fun-with-http-headers I decided to have a glance at some HTTP response headers, and these are from those I'm getting viewing h2g2 over the University network:
X-Cache: MISS from hamster.dur.ac.uk
X-Cache-Lookup: MISS from hamster.dur.ac.uk:8080

They still have hamster? Cool I think there used to be squirrel, too, when I was there. (several years ago, now)

Traveller in Time totally time confused during lunch time
"Well, between 12:00 and 14:00, brittish lunch time.
And it is not so much the negative numbers, more the time warps between clicking the link on the PS list, and the actual thread. I am used to check if a page is not a cached version of the thread by comparing the times. "

I think I recall seeing squirrel somewhere; also pepys and hermes (as featured on http:www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=dur.ac.uk ).
Now if the BBC could acquire Hermes to lend his winged sandals to DNA...

I had a dream that I was looking at the pop-up conversations window, and there was a -1 postings at the top. Then the list refreshed and suddenly everything was at -40 postings. I went downstairs and told my mother that the queue was backed up again.
I think I spend a bit too much time on h2g2.

Traveller in Time ironing time
"Well, you can imagine the information on the popup to take 'the long way' where the threads use the shortcut.
The thing is that 'some' of the information on the conversations popup on busy hours lags behind. This should not be much more then minutes, but we have seen it grow into an hour .
The 606 boards have (again) changed their opening times:
< <./>/606/</.> > Frontpage 606
' . . . 3pm-10pm on weekdays. . . . Weekend opening hours will remain 10am-10pm. . . . '
Now let us hope they will restrain themself to less then 5000 postings per hour, the servers can handle that. "
Key: Complain about this post
