Yes it's fine - I've read the link Santa recommended which is very informative.
I can only assume that someone kicked the plug out again! smiley - winkeye

Now I really must go and have my lunch. So when my eyes disappear it's cos I've really gone, not cos the confuser's fallen over again.

PS About those eyes, o Italics - something really should be done.

You can call me TC

And as for finding the right brackets, I use them professionally, too, and am always losing them. (I always forget to close them, too

I've had problems accessing h2g2 off & on today, also any other bbc sites,so presumably this is due to the dreaded nomadic servers?!
That referenced entry seems very useful, I'll take a closer look tomorrow --smiley - ta

I've been having trouble with H2G2 since the move, to. Just when you're posting you suddenly get a proxy error.

I've had a couple of those, but I had them on other BBC sites too - it was the whole of bbc.co.uk that was vanishing, not just a Guide problem. smiley - erm

They're pretty rare, and usually fixed within 5 minutes.

First I thought it was the evil system administrators; then I tried rebooting, wich didn't work, so it couldn't have been them.

Just had one:

"Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

The proxy server could not handle the request GET /h2g2/guide/u38364.

Reason: Could not connect to remote machine: Connection refused"

Me too! Yep, a lot of poxy servers and canna find messages.

And when it does work it's ..s..l...o...o....w.

I thought it might be the colder weather, y'know, like molasses in January. Or maybe the servers are uphill now, y'think? I mean it makes sense, what with the oceans rising, that the Beeb would move its assets to higher ground.

Still getting the poxy serverserrors!! (no, its not a typo!)

I tend to give up, disconnect, have a cup of smiley - tea & try again, usually OK then.

Maybe it's the poxy servers trying to tell us we're not spending enough time in RL (I don't feel smiley - sadface though!)

De-connected, pressed "previouspage" & it was happy again.
Who IS this poxy server & why don't they go & see a Doctor?

"maybe the servers are uphill now"

Or maybe they are downhill, and having to push the bytes uphill towards us? I can never tell from the gobbledegook which direction it's all going in. And if you get "connection refused" it sounds like they've just decided they're not going to open the from door at all so yah boo sucks...

I have come to the point where I don;t bother even attempting to connect to No No No! at tea time. And the Smileys page always takes ages, but I guess it's all the twiddly bits that take longer.
