h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

We're delighted to announce the release of version 1.10 of DNA (see <./>Versions-DNA-1-10</.&gt. The most important new feature for h2g2 is the addition of a new skin, Brunel. You can try out the new skin by changing the Skin setting in your h2g2 preferences; we hope you like it.

Brunel will become the default skin for h2g2, but we're going to leave it for a while before switching it over from Alabaster... just to make sure it all works OK.

If you spot any bugs in the new release, please post them to the Bugs Feedback Forum at <./>Feedback-Bugs</.> and we'll see what we can do.

good, i'll call it leather then. much more appropriate, alabaster means white, goo is goo like and brunel doesnt really describe anything.


maybe we should have a campaing to rename brunel something cool. doesnt have to be leather.

DNA 1.10 doesn't contain any new smileys, though we're hoping to bring you some very soon.

I like the clickable smilies in Brunel. Could do with those here in alabaster (where I'll probably stay)

I like the rivets - which is the reason it was called Brunel. Also while I didn't like the colours at first now they remind me of Thomas the Tank Engine and friends. Green is Percy, blue Thomas and red is Gordon I think.

(NB Radio 4 listeners will know that there is currently a campaign to get Isambard Kingdom Brunel honoured in every way possible, and it is great to see h2g2 playing its part.)

Not yet. But they are on their way. They were never scheduled for release in DNA 1.10, as the release system for smileys is different to an upgrade like DNA 1.10. We're working as fast as we can to bring you the smileys that most of you already know about...
