Uh-oh... Looks like I better start paying attention to the news again.
For what it's worth, here's the promised 'international words of Peace' entry.

just remember we should not loose faith. our cause is a great one, and its growing stonger. maybee powerful people will take notice before it gets too late and too many lifes are destroyed. dont loose faith, peace is more of a challenge now, but not an impossible one

THE WAR IS NOT OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are still droping 'Daisy cutter'
bombs!
The US dosent give a dam about rebuilding
the nation it has destroyed, it is only
conserned with taking the 'War agaist Terroism'
further in to more poor midle eastern countrys
so it can impose its lovely global capitilism every
where!
The Isralies have just killed a three year old
Palestinian in a bungeled attempt to kill a leeding
millitant risitance fighter even though Yasser Arafat
had just secured a promise for a suspention of
the suidide attacks.
The Isralies are comparing there atacks on
palistine to Americas atacks on Afganistain
(and the US surports this comparison)
Indeed the two are both comparable they are both
unjustified and likly to increase anti-western
feelings.
Say no to US/UK intervention in Afganistan
Say no to attacks on civil libertys at home
And surport the palistinians in there fight
for freedom and land.

... Of course, helping Palestinians fight would be war...
Which we're against. The US bombings are wrong. The Israeli killings are wrong. The Palestinian riots and bombings are wrong. War is war, and war is ALWAYS wrong. Period.

Your wroung there is a distintion
between war A state agaisnt anouther
state and the inserection of an
opressed people against their oppreser
Palastine is not a state becuse the Isralies
will not let it be.
Of cource I dont surport the suiside bombing
tacktics being used, they kill 'innocents' and
they are in the end ultimatly unproductive
but I dont agree with your pasifist stance
The people allways have a right to rise up
against there opressers if people die then
people die, would you call the ANL terroists
or freedom fighters ?
Of cource I whant peace, I all so whant a just
and fair world. They will both only come after
the overthrow of those hows interests lie in
opresion the capitilists and the fundementalists
and in stugle there is all ways some life lost.
Would you say the french resistance was wroung to stand
up to the Nazis ?
Peace will come only after revolution

Point taken.
However, (although I have a biased opinion here) I would reconsider before labeling the Israelis the "oppresors." Neither are the Palestinians the "terrorists." They are both comprised almost completely of good people who are just trying to live their lives happily. I may mention that the UN *did* have a solution for the Israeli/Palestinian problem which was rejected by the Palestinians although it disadvantaged both groups equally.

Hi Jk,
I agree with some of what you say, the distinction between states making war and oppressed people fighting back. But your last line sounded scary: "Peace will come only after revolution."
This reminds me of the way some communists believed that a nation should be led by a dictator or oligarchy for a little while, a "dictatorship of the people," then they would eventually grow into a fair, democratic system. But that seems to be yet another excuse for some dictators to come to power and rule their people indefinitely. I don't buy it. Social justice can be accomplished democratically, without any "temporary" period of dictatorship or oligarchy.
Similarly, I'm afraid that the supposedly necessary "revolution" could go on forever, if people keep claiming that peace will come after this brief, unpleasant moment of violence (the revolution). Ghandi had it straight, that violence only breeds more violence. I don't think peace will come after revolution. I think peace will come instead of revolution.

Peace would have to be a revolution ( i.e the multi national munitions industries don't like peace)
