They forced me to learn it for 13 years, and I'm very bad at languages so I was forced to do Ordinary level Irish in exams (Higher level in all others though) and for some reason the year I joined the school they decided to separate classes by which Irish class they were in, as opposed to maths which they had done every year before, so I was constantly separated from all my friends who were doing Higher level Irish during every official funtion.

And it's only spoken fluently by 5% of Irelands population (200,000 people) and nearly all of those speak English anyway.
And they kept on painting over the English parts in the road signs in the the Gaeltacht so that nobody understood where they were going and didn't stop until the government recently passed a law saying that it's ILLEGAL to have an english sign in the Gaeltacht.
